Regardless, you bought the most capable raod-legal track car and all you want to do is go Dukes of Hazzard on it LOL

And if you are saying Texas roads are better than PCH then you really got dropped on your head as a baby.
I've never driven the roads in Texas other than the highways between Austin and Houston but I do know PCH has some great stretches and then there are those back mountain roads around the grapevine....oh baby, not a car in site and so much fun.

Yeah that stretch is not ideal.

My record from Austin to Houston was 1hr 36mins.... avg speed.... dumb. It's normally a 2hr 20mins drive. Gives you perspective on my daily style lol.

Nor-cal definitely more enjoyable. Once you get to Santa Barbara it's eh.

Oh man guys, hoping we can get back to talking about these cars without personal attacks and heavy handed opinions. This is becoming one of those annoying threads filled with drama.

I have a 992 GT3 I’ve put 5k miles on over the past couple years. S/T on the way….really interested to hear more driving experiences for those who are getting some road time! Enjoy!

If all you want to do is go fast in a straight line... Texas is great! Hell, Texas has so few people on our highways, and they are so straight we have the highest speed limits in the country. But going fast in a straight line in a GT car is like taking your GF out to dinner and dropping her off at her house afterwards.

This literally sums up your ignorance.

Comparing roads between Texas and California? LOL

Hill country in Austin? Please.... Ever heard of Angeles Crest Highway? Lake Hughs? Big Tujunga Canyon? Yerba Buena? Decker?

For every back road you can mention from Texas, I can raise you 10 folds with back roads in CA.

I lived in Houston for 3 years and it was the most boring driving experience ever. Food is great in Houston, low taxes, good sports culture in all levels (eg. football and baseball) but that's pretty much it.

Car culture in Texas is nowhere near the car culture in CA, not in terms of numbers nor the level of skills/ability/craftmanship among the tuners and manufacturers. SEMA, Greddy, GIAC, HRE, Singers, etc. You name it, it's here in CA.

Dallas/ DFW.... well yall are Canadians in my book lol. Your road ways are absolutely caca. Nothing else to call it. The concrete version of interstate diarrhea is what Dallas has to work with. Highland park is a funny place to go and its the $ area of Dallas and yes, yalls roads in even the affluent areas are absolutely trash.

This was my PCH-Vegas cruise.... it carried farther north starting North of point Reyes. That's just the grab that her Iphone picked up tracking from. With that said, again PCH is beautiful yet not really complex enough or engaging for my dopamine needs.

I don't know why anyone gives Justroofer the time of day, when I found out the below I just ignore his posts because he doesn't fit the Porsche enthusiast category to me based on the following:

1. He doesn't track or do any canyon driving and lives in Texas with straight roads.
2. He ordered a GT3RS with sofa seats.
3. He bought a china made alibaba exhaust that he claims has huge power gains he feels but he literally never drove his stock exhaust car.
4. He can't get an ST so he complains about how much better his touring is.

Did I miss anything?

Yep! Super ignorant here! Houston metro area definitely doesn't offer any such experience you're seeking, neither does any California metro area. Can't compare. Neither does Austin, nor is that Hill Country territory.

Just a simple Google search can show the Heart of Texas is far from flat. Nothing like the coasts, but roads you can get real speed on and live a little.

Very similar to so-cal Hills. Consider that your topography class for the day lol.

You're right I'm not a Porsche "enthusiast". Nor should anyone be since freedom dies in darkness. If you're not will to open your mind to see the big picture, you're constantly living under someone else's guidance.

I'm an everything enthusiast! Lil bro you're just pissed I think the 4RS is crap. It's not an attack on your car, it's just not what I'd call a good car.

To the rest of it, #noregrets.

Ask yourself this. I'm no shark, but have conducted more than a mil in car deals in just the last 6 months. If I wanted an ST the opportunity to get one was readily available locally and via broker for months and months, even turned one down at a 150k mark up. It's not a car for me and if I don't see the value, I won't do it.

Cute how people that pass on something or have alternate opinions are called names around here. Good thing I embrace the culture of enjoying all brands, not just Porsche. Thatd be miserable life.

For those that wanted it, amazing and so happy for yall!

I sadly had a similar thing happen to me by a dealer in N. CA. Apparently the GM did it to enough other people to get canned a few months later.

100%. I've lived here 15 years, the fact is, it's a long drive to find a fun drive.

But as cooler2442 said, why does anyone here keep taking the bait? I pressed ignore on him but his messages pop in all of yours! This isn't a serious enthusiast, this is a troll.

Ok, impressions.

In 2016 the 911R was a revelation -- because finally Porsche got EPAS right (years before I had been in a 997.2 and went to a 991.1 and wow that was a shock). Back to the 991 911R: that car was special but the engine lacked low-end grunt. Yes, this all just my opinion. The 991.2 Touring was great but the steering didn't carry over from the 911R, it was heavy and a bit numb and frankly, a little disappointing. But the drivetrain was better.

For context I've owned many 911's. The important references here are the 997.2 GT3RS and the 992.1 GT3 (winged and not). The first day with the S/T means no spirited driving, but initial impressions are these:
1. Steering again is a revelation; feels old-school and not nearly as darty as the 992.1 GT3. The planted front-end is what's so much better about the 992 GT3 than any of the past iterations and that carries over here.
2. Suspension is calmer
3. Stubby shifter is more fun
4. Flywheel rattle is nothing compared to the 997.2 GT3RS that made people feel sorry for me at stop lights, but the chatter is reminiscent and made me smile
5. Clutch is much lighter than the 997.2 GT3RS but not noticeably different that the 992.1 GT3
6. Sound is awesome in the cabin and for those going aftermarket it should be amazing

In short, the S/T is pretty much everything that has been said by many others. Will be fun to get past 932 miles. Congrats to everyone getting one.
