Or would it be better to go to Porsche who did all the work and spent all the money on R&D, manufacturing, Employee's etc? Id rather it go to Porsche so they can continue to make cool cars we all want. Look at what the next equivalent lambo, ferrari, or mclaren etc sell for. $300K is not out the realm.
I don’t believe there was a single ADM on the 911R. They were sold to 918 VIPs and a few other VIPs. The guys who made $250k on the R were the first owners not the dealers

So in a nut shell, the 918 program did 2 things for Porsche. Saved them in a time of uncertainty, and aided creating exclusivity which in return drove market prices up. Im pro 918 style programs, but the buyers of the "flips" are the ones creating a bubble. Not the sellers.

The interesting thing about the market/ industry now is Porsche as a brand is significantly more mainstream which has driven demand to insane levels.

Yet people don't realize rate of inflation and what a 1mil investment in 2014-15 really is. In today's money that's 1.3mil equivalent. All things being equal has the 918 gained value, yes. Yet the real lucrative part of that deal was first rights of access which in return allowed the "investors" of the 918 to create a healthy rate of return.

By the way, Porsche awards dealers with allocations of GT cars for selling lots of other vehicles, they dont also need to give them hundreds of thousands of dollars on top of that. This is one of the many reasons OEMS would love to be able to go to direct to consumer sales model.
Well, Ferrari dealers "sell" models like the GTC4Lusso or a Roma or really any non mid-engine car, by making it a condition precedent to purchasing a more highly sought after mid engine V8 (or, now, a mid engine V6) special edition, like the SF90 XX.

So, no, Ferrari dealers don't do any real heavy lifting. The cars like the GTC4Lusso, ahem, sell themselves, so to speak.

Back on topic… I’m not sure why journalists continue to compare the S/T MSRP to that of the R. Wouldn’t it be better to compare it to the 992 3RS WP? And from there, the S/T is only about 8k more, which is probably close to the clutch cost (not even amortizing development cost)

Or is there too much removed from the 3RS to compare apples to apples to the S/T?

^ this exactly. And further more, people comparing it to the Touring is also ridiculous.

RS engine, Weissach suspenion, Mag wheels, CF doors, roof, etc, all 3RS WP parts; the more apt comparison, not to a 10 year old 991.1.

I'm pretty sure the reason people are comparing the ST to the R is because AP did so by saying it is the R of this generation ... he also insisted on comparing it to the Touring by offering back to back rides to show the differences.

the reason for the Touring availability during test drives was to show how different the S/T was in comparison

Yes, that is what I said.

The way you tell seemingly similar things at the surface are different is by comparing them ... it's not 'ridiculous' as my friend @cosmos said, it is the nature of the relativistic universe.

Blame god and Einstein, if I had the power to change it I'd have an ST allocation and head hair.

I was referring to the pricing structure of the ST compared to the Touring v. RS.

I believe when pricing out the ST it should be comparable to the RS.

ST is basically same price as 3RS with WP, PCCBs and Mag wheels

Speaking of the RS. Mine arrived a few weeks ago. The only reason I got an ST spot is they want it back 😎
