lol, this was my thinking. But still I had to fight the urge very hard. I can't stand the vinyl version, and they know people like me might bite. At the end of the day it's more the mentality of "pay us enough and we'll do it" versus cost plus some margin. That's why the $25k is not surprising. Those mentioning the Ferrari analogy, go have a look at Atelier spec costs. As CJ noted it's just another universe. I hope Porsche doesn't get that bad, but they will keep going until they feel resistance to the increases, and to date there hasn't been any. I worry more about the feedback loop that creates.

Back to ST programming...

70k for a painted stripe is pretty nuts but I am the type that would pay 70k to remove the painted stripe if thats the way it came, so there's that.

Unfortunately there are more than enough folks who are willing and able to pay ever and ever higher prices meaning that Porsche will keep increasing the prices until the guys on the margin are squeezed out leveling out the demand.

If you want exclusivity, then yes.

Weiss can only do a handful of painted stripes each year. So essentially what you are paying for is 1/1 in your respective country.

^this. 2 stripes per month for the world. Get in line fast, give them the money and thank them.

this goes live tomorrow @7am (PST?) but the title says it all! 🤩

on a related note, I was at the dealership the other day and got to meet their master mechanic. He was given the opportunity to repair the clutch on one of the press cars as someone had blown the clutch 🙄

his words (paraphrasing) “Porsche is doing a terrible job of marketing the S/T, it’s the most significant and special car to come out of Flacht in years and the clutch is the closest thing to a Carrera GT since that was released.”

Interesting to see 991’s bucking the trend and continuing to rise in price. PTS 991 tourings are 100k over Msrp. Seems many are seeking what Porsche used to make. The ST matches that profile and will be a very special car. I’m excited.

Can you explain how a 991 touring is closer to a S/T than a 992 GT3 touring?

I've been waiting for that 2 Jason's 1 car video since that podcast a few weeks ago when Jason explained his time with the S/T. Hope it measures up
