911ST

Why would anyone not get an extended tank on their 911? If you want to drive "lightweight" in your ST, the solution is simple by not filling your tank to the fullest and just do 3/4 full. Your car would weigh exactly like one without the extended tank. Problem solved.

I’m confident the S/T would be very capable and satisfying on the track. I know most S/T buyers will own other more track-focused cars, but that wouldn’t keep me from doing Euro Delivery and enjoying the finest tracks on Earth with the S/T, if I was fortunate enough to have an allocation.
If Porsche didn’t care to make the S/T track-worthy, they should have put tiny carbon brakes (and much narrower wheels and tires) on the car and save a bunch more weight.
Would have had even more entertaining road manners and be more than capable for any road driving. You don’t need 410mm brake rotors and 315mm rear tires on a 3,000 pound car for the street. And it has the identical suspension hardware as a track car, GT3.

Yeah, I wish they had the extended tank option for the 4RS, it takes less than 17 gallons.

Because it’s not a big deal to me.

agree 100%. I couldn’t get 2 full sessions with it at Red Bull Ring during ED. I went out 2nd session with 1/2 Tank thinking all was good, used to the larger tanks on all my prior GT cars, no biggie. Went into limp mode toward end of session as I ran it too low! Doh!!! Why couldn’t they give it to us but they do other markets? Only complaint about the wonderful 4RS

It’s just so oddly subjective, that by default when something is objective, it’s not an absolute.
Further more, most rebutted here are fantasy. You either don’t have a 992 GT product or you posses odd dream of anxiety laden thoughts.
Bottom line, for those who wouldn’t get a 992 ST because it didn’t have a 90l tank, wouldn’t buy one in the first place, for a whole bunch of other fantasy reasons.

My car is a RHD car so it wasn’t available so I didn’t even have to think about it. Almost passed on the S/T allocation since extended tank not available. Lol. Most of my LHD cars had it, btw.
Again, not a big deal. Just an opinion being expressed here on rennlist.

My habit has been to completely fill the tank and add Sta-Bil for cars I don't drive in the winter. Reason to fill the tank full is to minimize available water vapor in air getting into the gas. I believe this is critical for older cars but maybe has no bearing on newer ones?

For me it would be having to fill the tank up before winter storage and then driving off the stale fuel in the spring.

And burning off fuel hasn’t been an issue for me either - well over 19k miles on my 992 GT3 now

Personally I would skip it if I can figure out who to whack in order for my #2 dealer spot to move up. Too many complaints about rattles from the extended tank in the 992. And I know it would be driven less than 1,000 miles per year with no long trips, so gas station visits would be infrequent regardless.

Can we debunk this internet ‘theory’? Extended tank is not available on AWD or RHD models. Seems pretty clear it is actually a larger tank.
