Red isn't coveted for any of the Porsche models. Part of the issue is that Guards Red isn't the red most people like on a car, and part of the issue is that red is a bit fiery and flamboyant for a car that has the purposeful ethos of German engineering. Ferrari owns red.

Guards red was popular on the classic Porsches but it has lost its appeal on modern ones. There has been a rapid decline in red Porsches since the water cooled cars.

My pops still has his guards red 1984 944. A perfect color for the car.
It just doesn't fit the modern day Porsches like it did the older ones.

Seems like it. And to my eye, it suits the car because the car looks so over the top anyway. I spent 40 minutes at the gas station last time because people kept coming over wanting to talk about the car - pretty sure that wouldn't happen if the car was white, silver, black, etc.

Guards is a classic colour for sure but it's a little too orange for me. I'm not a 'red' person but I think Carmine is nicer as well as darker reds like Arena.

Guards is a classic color - I had a 1985 Carrera, 1990 964 C2, 1996 993 Cabrio in Guards. I'm onto trying new things now - so I really stepped out with Black, Grey and Silver . I'd like to do something more adventurous on my next 911.
