My car is being built this week, actually started on 8/25 and will finish 9/5. My SA says to expect arrival 3.5-4 weeks after completion of the build.

SA says that once the car is assigned a VIN he will send me a link to the Porsche Delivery App for the iPad with specific videos for my configuration. Sounds pretty cool, although I've been going through the Porsche Good to Know App, which probably has many if not all of the same videos. Anything else of value in the Delivery App?

Delivery app is a mystery to me. My 991.2TT is scheduled for completion on 9/2 -- I have a Commission Number plus a Delivery Code in my app, but no VIN yet -- not sure if app speaks to the Porsche Logistics DB for updated status, but will call my SA first thing next week. BTW, the app appears to show the 991.1 rather than the 991.2 -- at least the steering wheel and the NAV.

The app never did work with my VIN or Delivery Code. They told me it's because the 2017 models had not been put into the database yet. I just used the self-guided tour with the 991.1. It was better than nothing.

Yes to this (honestly I wouldn't do either)..... Sounds like a classy build otherwise.

I wish Porsche would stitch the crest on the inboard "shoulder" of the seats like Alfa did with the C8 (I might be convinced to add the crest that way)

If people haven't figured out what kind of car it is by the time they get into your seats, a crest isn't going to help them.

I avoided this added expense on my build. Porsche should have to pay me if they wanted to add additional branding, not have me pay to put their logo all over my car.

Oh man... I really struggled with this one in my config! Sounds like such a petty thing to agonize over but I kept going back and forth on it. To your point above, I totally agree! From a logical perspective you are absolutely correct. However, many, many people do not approach a car with logic, but with emotion instead. A crest on the headrest, while logically redundant, can spark an emotional reaction that has a definitive value. It can give the car a more "regal" or classy vibe that can change the way one feels about the car.

From that perspective I can easily see adding it. But, to your point, there comes a line between classy and semi-obnoxious...

For what it's worth I had opted out of having them but I, literally, just came from the store where I saw a C2 Cab with the top down that had crests on the seat and, before I could think, my initial reaction was "those look pretty nice!"

So maybe I'm not decided yet either... Ugh.

My two cents: when unoccupied, the upper third of the seats looks like a big ol' slab of blank leather. I think the crest on seats adds a little visual interest, and isn't obsequious. The console cover I would flat out not put a crest on, because I think it looks crowded.

I agree. I don't look at it as overbranding - It's decorative and balances the space of blank leather on the seat. It's very clean otherwise.
Mercedes puts AMG or DESIGNO on their seats. Rolls Royce puts a chrome bar in the seat.

Audi has cross hatch stitches all over, they don't need a logo. etc.

You guys are the experts here. It's my first Porsche. As you may already know, for those who don't - a quick recap.

Deposit put down July 15.
Told 6 - 8 weeks because i was taking someones build slot that had backed out of an order. The timing was perfect.
Sept 15 would be 8 weeks. Told probably expect it end of September. (All fine)

My question is - I have my liason asking the dealership (Porsche of Warrington) for an update - and there are none. Shouldn't there be the pertinent info that I see you all posting? Build date? Build Expected Date? Expected Completion Date? Actual Completion date?

Shouldn't the dealership have this info? I am not concerned with the wait (except for the normal desire for my first porsche) but having some info would make the process a bit more exciting.

What do I ask to get this info? I suspected they didn't have the info because the factory is closed for August - is this the case?

Experts - help me out here I'm a 911 virgin!

Bradley, you should DEFINITELY have updates by now. I'm not much less of a Porsche virgin than you, but my delivery is scheduled for two weeks from now and I've been able to get information all along the way. Granted, I needed to reach out to my dealership several times to get this information, but it should be readily available.

See attached as an example of the stepwise information Porsche provides the dealer, and no reason you shouldn't have access, too.

I was able to find out what ship I was on, then tracked that ship across the Atlantic, just for fun. It's trivial, but it helps to pass the time while we wait.
