Officially checking out of the waiting room! I have been dreaming of owning my own 911 since 1981. It's a reality...... I keep pinching myself but it is in my garage. Wow.

Default Ordered my first 911 (991.2)

Ordered my first 911 ever and the wait is killing me! I think I've watched every YouTube video out there that reviews/drives a 991.2. I previously owned '13 Boxster.

Here's my build and schedule:

Vehicle Fixed 12/16/2016
Vehicle Entry to Body Shop 12/23/2016
Vehicle Exit Production 1/13/2017
Vehicle Completion 1/20/2017
Entry Port Emden 1/27/2017
Exit Port Emden 2/10/2017
Entry Port Davisville 2/24/2017
Exit Port Davisville 3/3/2017
Dealer Inventory 3/10/2017

911 Carrera S
GT Silver Metallic
Leather Interior in Black
Premium Package Plus i.c.w Power Sport Seats (14-way)
LED Headlights
Entry & Drive
Auto-Dimming Mirrors
Light Design Package
Seat Heating
Seat Ventilation
Electrice Slide/Tilt Sunroof in Glass
PDK
Sport Chrono Package
20" Carrera S Wheels
GT Sport Steering Wheel
Heated Multifunction Steering Wheel
Power Sport Seats (14-way) w/Memory Package
Smoking Package
Luggage Net
BOSE Surround Sound System

Two things I didn't order and hope I don't end up regretting: 1) sports mirror 2) dials in black. Personally, I like the contrast of color - hope it sticks!

Two other questions I'm looking for some insights on (right now):

1. I have normal speed bumps at my office building - any concerns with damaging the car under normal driving over the speed bumps?

2. Coming from '13 Boxster, I'm used to road noise. But, a lot reviews point this out as a major drawback. Is it really that bad?

Thanks!

Very nice - did it come with painted calipers?

Welcome to the club StevePlaysHard.
Nice build! I think I am a couple of weeks behind you.
I also watched every single Youtube video and the world is running out of content for me to consume. I went through a similar experience a couple of years ago buying a new BMW. That was Euro Delivery, so I had 2+2 months wait with a week of driving in between. The second part was the worst.
Now, it's 3 months in one shot. What I plan on doing in the meantime is go back to the dealer, and take lots of detailed photos and videos of a 911, and use these 3 months to educate myself on every single detail.

Nice looking build details.

Coming from a 13 Box, you will have no more difficulties with Speed Bumps in the new 911. The road noise levels are also very similar, IMO. The wait is indeed the hard part, do you still have the 981 to drive around during the wait?

Sports mirrors look better IMO but don't power fold. I've had both and wouldn't get mirrors that don't power fold if available, especially if they can be set to fold on "lock". Plus, the power folding mirrors have nice little puddle lights on the bottom.
Dials will be fine with PDK - I thought the tach was hard to see on my '13 BS, so I ordered dials in black on my not-yet-built Targa (both MT).
I originally ordered the Targa on 10/14 but due some "changes" on my part, it's now scheduled for delivery mid-July. Waiting is all relative...

I have PASM and skipped the front axle lift -- and have had no problems over the handful of speed bumps I've experienced. Others can speak with much more experience. I also have a steep driveway. I need to take it carefully to avoid scrapes. If I had SPASM, it would be a different story.

On road noise, if you've got a '13 Boxster and have done a test drive of any 991.x, you know what you're getting. What is quite prevalent is the noise of particles hitting the wheel well. Not sure if your Boxster makes these noticeable, but they are quite noticeable. I'd have preferred a little sound deadening material, personally, but it's not a deal breaker.

BTW, I've mentioned this before, but in my 5 month wait I also collected a bunch of 991.2 videos into a YouTube playlist. You've probably seen most of the interesting ones, but I leave it here just in case.

Subscribed! I was looking through the list and it's so funny, practially all of them were marked by youtube as "watched already" .... I mean, what else am I supposed to do while waiting, LOL!
But you did have a few that were new to me, thanks.

Mine is being built the week before yours but has the same delivery schedule, looks like our cars will make the trip together. Same color as well.
