This is my first post on "Hot for Sale", but I have been following this thread for several weeks. You guys are supplying great information! After 15 years, I am considering moving from my trusty old 996 to a base 991 with 7 speed manual. Does anyone have any information on this car?
I have been concentrating my search on CPO vehicles, but this one has almost two years of factory warranty left and is more favorably priced. The Carfax is peculiar, though. The very first entry is from Porsche of Omaha with over 10k miles on the odometer. Does anyone have any theories? Should I stay away?
Thanks for your help.
if it means anything, I used to live near Auto Assets and they have been in that location at least since the mid-90s, maybe longer. Had nice cars long ago, too.

Thanks, SRacer - and yes, it helps. I have read positive comments in Rennlist archives about their service department, but nothing about sales. I appreciate the note.
I think there can be many reasons for the car to go through auction. Perhaps the dealership had several lease returns that month and didn't have the space to keep them all?
STG and Co - first, let me say what an awesome thread this is. I've been lurking for the better part of a year and it's been enormously informative. I'm finally starting my 991 search in earnest.
Question: is it safe to assume that any car that gets sent to auction is probably not top tier? I work in the auto industry and have some fairly senior connections at Manheim who have offered to let me take a spin through any of their lots in case I find something to my liking. I've read here that most of the 911s that make it to auction are ones that dealers can't move though, so I'm wondering if this is even worth calling in the favor for.
For reference, I'm in the SF Bay Area and in the market for a C2S Cab. Strong preference for black (white is second choice), with PDK and Sport Chrono being the only must have options. Nice to haves include CPO, PSE, 14/18 way seats, Sport Design Steering Wheel, and Carrera S/Sport Techno wheels.
Here are some listings I've got my eye on currently:
- 2014 CPO black C2S cab with 9k miles, asking price $93k (vs MSRP $135k)
- 2013 CPO black C2S cab with 17k miles, asking price $84k (vs MSRP $129k)
Would like to keep purchase price under $90k.
Not sure of your timeline, but I'll be turning mine in at a local dealer around July / August. Who knows what price they will put on it. Agate with the minimalist red seats looks pretty cool.

I agree. Many dealers will toss their cars to auction after X number of days in their used inventory (where X may be 60 or 90 days as a hard and fast rule). Remember inventory is $$$ that is tied up for a dealership and these are not cheap cars so turning the cash is at times economically more important to them than making a better margin if they keep it in inventory for an extended period of time. Depends on the dealership, the market, the time of year etc.
As anywhere else, there are likely great cars that went through the auction process as well as ones to be cautious about. Just do your due-dilly and you should be ok.
The Porsche locator has a loaded ($142k MSRP) Agate Grey CPO C2S with 7.7k miles for $82k. It must be brand new because it is not even listed in Porsche Nashua's inventory. The VIN is WP0AB2A97CS121592.
Was discussed again a few weeks back here. Front end accident and has aftermarket stereo installed. Was at Porsche of Scottsdale, didn't sell, and they sent it to auction. This new dealer bought it and now selling it.
I first listed this car like 3-4 months ago when the Porsche dealer had it.

Thanks. Do you think it worth to buy and what price it should be?
