This car is at its 3rd private dealer since May 2021 and cant seem to find a Home.
At first glance seems like a decent price and spec given the market BUT has Range 1, 2, 3 and 4 over Revs and although the Over revs were a few hundred hours ago, paying top dollar for a car that you will later have to sell yourself (especially if market corrects in 1-2 yrs) with Range 4 Over revs could be a huge hassle
I am in the market for a 991.1….can you elaborate and for this car specifically? I was under the impression that some range 4 was acceptable and 5/6 were the killers?
in the hunt for a DD until I can get a 992 or .2 gt3 at a decent price (max 10-15 over sticker).
ive been looking at cars that will at least retain value for the next year or 2 or 3. After some thinking I’ve decided on a naturally aspirated gts, a 2015 gts to be exact. I live in southern Cali so I would prefer a cab (I know most like coupes for whatever reason). First question what are your thoughts on a 991.1 gts as a daily that will retain value for let’s say 2 years?
the car in question:
2015 gts cab white with 22k miles. Msrp 153k. Clean Carfax. Negotiating purchase price of 97k.

Six months ago I would have rolled my eyes. But that doesn’t seem bad. A GTS will hold almost as good as a GT3. There is a 2019 at my dealer for 178k.
Now, be prepared when this used card market lunacy is over for the price drop. Your’s won’t be immune but will do better than others. Get it (normally aspirated, right?) and have fun. Good luck.

thanks. Yea I don’t remember the 15’ gts market before this recent craziness. I was looking at a 2018 Turbo s before this craziness. I don’t mind waiting 6 months for prices to stabilize but we don’t know how long it’ll take.

I don’t think prices will collapse like most. I think they will stabilize and drift down but not crater as the ICE is about to be hard to find but people will still want them.
I still cringe in that Star Trek movie when young Kirk ran that 62 Vette over the edge.

Any info appreciated.
It is my understanding that until March 2020, Porsche was willing to CPO a Range 3/4 car as long as the over rev was 200+ hours ago (going by memory, could be 250 hours)
In 2020, Porsche revised that acceptance criteria (for 991) and added that a compression test must be done for the car to be "acceptable for CPO".
I would suggest, just to avoid headaches, you avoid this car because imagine trying to educate/inform a future buyer of your car with all this. People tend to be skittish and skeptical in general anyways, add this Over rev business and it could be hard to unload the car.
If 3 different private Dealers have not been able tog unload this car in 10 months, I doubt I would be able to, when I needed to, without taking a major hit on price. Something the private dealer is unwilling to, given the Mileage and Range 4 Over-rev, this car should be priced at least $`10K less. Just my subjective opinion

Was sold as CPO Feb ‘20 so the money shift and/or abuse would’ve had to have been within the last two years correct?

IIRC the money shift was before CPO @ 700 hours, car now has 1400 hours, but back then Porsche didn't require compression test on Range 4. They do now. SO at the very least an independent shop should do Compression test
and the price should still be far less than what he is asking. Unless you plan to never sell the car
To me, its like buying a car with a Carfax Hit/accident. Even if you have pictures or receipts showing the accident wasn't that significant, the next buyer will want a price reduction when compared to clean Carfax cars.(and so should you)
Its not a do not buy, its a buy after compression test and at a discount, period.
In a soft market the cabs are the first to free fall in value.
They are strong like everything now but 2 years from now you could take a bath when the lunacy ends.

Market could be softening or it could be becuase it's middle of January but I'm seeing 25+ 911s on Carmax, a dozen on Caravana and my local dealers have quite a few pre-owned 911s on the lot.
