Did Porsche change their report and discard the older lower Ranges of 1,2,3 and just report the older ranges of 4,5 & 6, as 1,2 & 3 in the 982/992 vehicles?

Any insight out there?

It looks like there are six. See the attached link:

Thanks, but for the 982 it shows only Ranges 1,2 & 3. It appears that Porsche has changed their systems and no longer has 6 Ranges for Over Speed. I would like to know what these New 3 Ranges represent concerning engine over rev (over speed) conditions.....

This might be unique to the 718 4.0L engines and 992 series 911s, as they seem to have the same reporting condition of only 3 ranges...

I have a 982 but it is a 2.5L. Try hitting select all and see if that gives you six ranges?

I am using the "All", and it only shows ranges 1, 2 & 3. I've "searched" and it only shows the ranges for 1,2 & 3. So it must be unique to the 4.0L engine on the 718 series.

Thanks for your input!

Here is a link to the PCA website with an explanation of over rev reports.

https://www.pca.org/tech/can-you-exp...gaAkawEALw_wcB

Note: It is the range 4, 5 and 6 ranges that are the concern so it seems odd that the 4.0s would only have three ranges. You may want to ask someone with a 4.0 on the 718 forum to run a report to confirm your conclusion.

Thanks, I also read that Q&A on PCA.org. Other 718 4.0L and 992 owners are asking the same question as they have the same issue of their DME only reporting 3 Over Speed Ranges. I did submit a new Tech Question to PCA.org on this topic. I will post if I get an answer. .

This makes sense, more or less. But momentum cannot cause acceleration. all momentum can do is maintain speed.

I found that I need to scan the VIN each time or it only brings up the last system that you worked on. I thought once it saw my car, and listed the VIN that I could just click that entry to work on that car again. I guess you need to do a VIN scan each time.

When doing a DME report does XX_Total milage over service life indicate when he car had it's first service?
Would this example indicate the initial service was @ 687 miles? If so I think this is good info to have regarding the history of the car in the beginning. You can't really draw any conclusions based on this data point, but it's nice to know.

Meanwhile, I did modify the Speed Correction Factor as follows:

1 00.00 98.00
2 100.00 98.00
3 200.00 98.00

I've only had a chance to check one speed thus far, but with this 2 percent correction, 80 mph on my speedometer now matches the 80 mph show by Waze/GPS.

SUCCESS!
I love this Thinkdiag gadget! Just did the same thing in my 2019 991.2, set all values to 98.0. FINALLY, the speedometer matches Waze and my GPS-Speedometer-App perfectly.

Amazing what we can do with this thing given the cost.

In order to get Waze to match the speedometer on my 718 I changed the y1 code to 97.10. It does not perfectly match Waze but it is real close. I did not change the y2 or y3 codes since I rarely drive over 250 kph (155 mph).

Does anyone know a way to turn off the text notification "beep" through ThinkDiag? Every time I turn it off through the settings, it turns back on the next time I start the car. I tried a search and tried a few things but to no avail.

so I bought an android tablet and installed the thinkdiag+ app, I can scan my car, go into all the modules and "special functions" which I see are pretty much all calibration stuff but nowhere can I find any coding options? any idea what I'm doing wrong?
