The car will also have to adjust/learn the new tune as well so let us know what you think after a hundred or so miles.

wbrownie - did you give your car a chance to learn? When I first installed Stage 1 the car had some hick-ups but smoothed out after some miles.

Agree with Bob, any changes to the combustion will get adjusted by the adaptation algorithm over some miles and will improve efficiency and power, AFAIK.

Having had Cobb in 3 different cars the tune really comes to life at Stage 2 or above. Not to say there are no gains in Stage 1 but with the addition of an exhaust and sport cats the difference is much more significant.

To be fair, I might not have given it a full 100 miles. I'll try again at some point but will likely go with Sport Cats and put the stock exhaust back on before then.

The Sport Cats (aka high-flow) are needed at a minimum for Stage 2 as per Cobb, with the PSE of course.

I have soul sports cats and PSE, did some "errands" with the wife today just to get some miles on the tune. I understand what brownie said, the linear feel of stage 1 is not there with stage 2. There is a bit of a delay and then an onslaught of pull. Didnt really get to rip around much due to traffic and wife in the car but more to come. I did like the linear feel of stage1.

What about trying the older version, the one many call more "aggressive"? Is there a way to load it on our APs? Someone here said they did this and had the file...

I think those files open up the power and Tq even more at all RPM ranges.

BRuss - what model do you have ? base or S? I'm about to take delivery of a COBB AP for my 17' base non/PSE but have Soul exhaust (just muffler delete with antidrone pipes). Going to download myself as per the new method Cobb rolled out this winter. Anyone do it themselves yet? Cobb recommends using a 20amp battery charger while downloading to prevent voltage drops from affecting the ECU download. anyone go through this?

If I may, many of us have loaded Cobb tunes ourselves via the OBD. As long as you have a fairly good battery and the car has not sat for a couple weeks you will have no problem.

?? Cobb just came out with this option 3 months ago. Before that folks had to remove and ship out there ECU. What am I missing here?

Correct...a LOT of members here have bought the AP from them since! There are several threads in this forum that you can search for...

Even when you sent your DME for unlock, it was not returned with the programming on it. You will need to plug the AP into the car, choose the file to install and then install onto DME. The instructions recommend a battery charger at 20 amps. I never used one. Many on here may have never used one. It’s your call.

Thanks fellas - I wasn't aware of that process. I'd rather not stick a battery charger on either but the Cobb guys recommended it. Not sure what I'll do yet. B Russ - what car do you have?
