Bob Z, I wrapped the inside of the handle with 3m 1080 carbon fiber. If you look at this picture you can see it. I used them to practice. I think they were the first thing I ever wrapped.
I also wrapped the door sill trims since I keep scuffing them with my feet. If you zoom in on the first photo of post #51 you can see that
Nice job indeed. You could carry the CF forward but you will have to make a template since there are no definitive lines to follow. It was easier on the passenger side since there are no switches. And I did my sills as well

Here are some pictures of the A pillars installed.
Pretty decent match with factory headliner. Also, these are easy to wrap.
991.2 A pillars don't fit 991.1. 991.2 have some kind of locking pin. I'd guess it is related to air bags in the A pillar. 991.1 just snap in, see photo above.
For 991.2, see 991.2 A pillar removal
Thanks, I don't need to swap lock cylinder any longer. It's not needed.
I got the .2 to fit onto it, but the bottom and top didn't sit right where it was and the edge never wrapped around against the windshield so I could still see the metal of the pillar itself. So I will be selling those soon to probably try what you did with mine.
the only things left are rear side panels and the DASHBOARD
Sure... Push my buttons. 😏 😊. I actually missed out on a $800 black dashboard, but that was probably fortunate. Taking the dash out is pretty involved, although with the glovebox and under steering trim out, I was probably halfway there...

I would just love to have my A-pillar like yours. They indeed do look fantastic! Guess I do have to investigate for somebody (upholstery) in Germany to make them as perfect as yours. What keeps me motivated is that you said that they come loose pretty easy.

The A pillars are a perfect place start to do it yourself. I hoped this thread would make it easier for folks to try this. This was my first try wrapping alcantara. Give it a shot. If you mess it up, peel it off and try again. You will cut up your part, but if you can't make it work you can always buy another used A pillar. The center armrest is easy too.
As I mentioned above, I ran out of my 1yd of alcantara after completing the A pillar. I was faced with buying another yard of material for the B pillar when I found an already wrapped set out of a 2017 Turbo S on eBay for $180. I bought them so I could better figure out how to release the hidden clip. The color match of OEM Porsche parts is very good to my 9002 alcantara.
My custom screwdriver. I used a propane torch to bend the tip like VW tool T10118 from a picture of the tool I found eBay. I rounded the tip on a grinder. This also shows the angle you approach the clip from below.
I'm not sure I would have wrapped the belt bezel, but it's already done.
Now I have no excuse not to re-try the rear seat side panels. There is already a rattle in back so I don't have much to lose.
Hey Dan..great work...looks amazing...I noticed you posted some instructions on removing back seats(very helpful)....I saw the seat bottoms(velcro points etc.) the seat belt bracket and center section instructions....any tips on the seat backs? I removed the back seats from my 996 because I like the carpet look with no seats in the back but was unable to put back(messed something up when taking apart)...as a side note I weighed the 996 back seats when done and saved 25lbs...was okay not to be able to put them back because as I stated liked the stripped out carpet look in the back(GT3 ish looking to me)....for my 991 however I want to make sure they can go back in without a problem in case for resale....any tips on removing the 991 back seat backs much appreciated...Thank You!
Hi, removing the back seats is covered in the rollbar PDF (see post #48), but the trick is to pull straight up on the back half of the black plastic piece between the rear seats. Once that is off, pull the front half of the plastic cover toward the front of the car. Then the seat half's slide toward center about 1/2" and lift up the hinge portion in the wider portion of the slot.
....edited.. found some more pictures from someone else's thread. Sorry I don't recall who.
