Last piece, the end cap to the glovebox. This was simple to prep, but hard to wrap.


I had to piecut a couple of corners. I'm not sure how that will hold up in the long term.


Now that all of the interior parts are ready, I just need to get the car out of storage to do the install.
Hopefully the next week or two.


Was it worth it? $1300 for the alcantara wrapped dash set on eBay may not be overpriced if your time is worth something to you. I have ~$400 in parts and at least 4 days of time in this. Plus, I have no expense in tools as I already have this stuff around. So, yes, for me it was worth it as a hobby. I can't wait to see it installed.

 

You treat your car as a hobby, just like me (and many others) - nice job. Does it make the car go faster? No, but who cares. I get a smile on my face every time I see what I have done and while I have used paint and vinyl I know how much work it takes to make things right. I did things over a few times since I was not happy with something but if someone else saw it they would not know the difference but I want things correct. We do stuff like this to please ourselves and not others so for those that like to poke fun or make negative comments you are not discouraging us. And I look forward to see how it all looks once you get it all installed. Again, nice job.

 

Thanks Bob, I agree. It makes me appreciate how important it is to get your factory order correct, or wait for the "right" car if you buy used. I bought used, but I don't think I would have ever found a car like mine, no matter how long I looked.

 

Wow, such great work and passion! I love everything that you have done. If you had originally swapped out the passenger airbag sensor before using the new one would you not have set off your airbag light? Interested in also swapping out my seats and would like to avoid having to reprogram the light if possible.

 

Thanks. Correct, if I would have used the occupancy sensor coded to my car on the new seat first, it would have NOT set the airbag light. I'm glad you can learn from my lesson!

My caution is make sure you:
1) Disconnect the battery before swap but after you loosen the mounting bolts hidden by the seat.
2) You are swapping like for like seats / airbags i.e. 4 ways for 4 ways. Not sure what happens if you go 4 ways to 18 ways.

I don't think the factory would even put together a package that i would ultimately want. Finding one on previously enjoyed market is nearly impossible. I have only seen one car since i have been in a Porsche market (10 years) that ticked all the appropriate boxes for me. And it was way out of my price range.
This is why I appreciate very much threads like these because they help you get to where you want, when you cant buy exactly what you want. And maybe its even sweeter this way

How many meters did you order for your front and rear seats and how much did your local shop charge for labor?

 

love those rear seats. very jealous.

 

I ordered 3 meters but the shop only used 2. I sold the left over material to JustBud on the forum.
The shop charged a little over $1300. I took the seats to them so they didn't have any time to disassemble from the car.
