Did you have a coolant leak/water pump replaced?

Maybe because it’s not affecting all 991s and isn’t considered to be enough of a safety issue?
Lots of Macans have needed their transfer boxes replacing, but no recall on those either.
This approach could be a contributory factor towards Porsche being one of the most profitable car companies on the planet.

Stopped by dealer service yesterday with my 2017 991.2 after noticing a very slight pink seepage from behind the water pump pulley. The car has 13K miles on it. Was told by the service writer that it had to be leaking onto the garage floor before it would be considered a candidate for replacement. He said there was a “weep hole” behind the pulley and some seepage could be considered normal. I’ve owned many cars in my years and have never heard of anything like this. I thought our cooling systems were “sealed” systems with the expansion tank responsible for collecting any coolant overflow, etc. I expressed my concern to not be stranded in the “middle of nowhere” when this thing decides to completely fail. Anyone else heard an explanation like this before?

Agree that’s not an appropriate response. I had a similar issue with my 2013 S that was seeping PDK fluid, but the dealer wouldn’t consider doing anything about it until it was dripping on my floor as well. Seems most like to kick the can down the road. Yet PCNA always says customer satisfaction is their highest priority. If you’re not happy with the service advisor, escalate to the service manager, then the dealership manager, then your regional PCNA rep. I think sometimes that’s the only way to be taken seriously. Sad, but sometimes try.

water pump replaced
2018 991.2 GTS - Three weeks after delivery. Noticed no hot air available. Told that sleeve inside pump was sticking. Whilst replacing pump they punctured one of the cooling rads, total bill came to over $4000 all covered under warranty - no problem since.

Bought 2017 C4S 14K miles over Memorial Day. 2 weeks later pink puddle in my driveway (maybe a quart or two of antifreeze.) Dealer had car almost a week and told me must have been air in coolant lines and just burped some fluid out through overflow reservoir. When I pressed them on water pump, they told me service records indicated it had already been replaced and all looked good.
Fast forward to 2 days ago - puff of sweet smelling smoke, turn engine off now warning message and stuck on side of road. I told dealer don't give me car back with same water pump in it and change out the thermostat and vacuum valve lock while they have it apart. Got a song and dance about Porsche may not cover the other parts. I told them that since my car supposedly already had a replacement pump, something (potentially leftover damage from first time the pump went) caused this and I do not want to get stuck roadside again. Still waiting for a verdict...
Anyone have any ideas on what else I should be pointing these guys at given i've had MULTIPLE water pump failures now ?
Thanks,
Scott
