I've bought this car 10 days ago, coming from a 14' 991 C2S.
Thanks! Just trying to narrow down when they made the swap to the new part. Mine is a later 2018 build, 3/18, with no problems.

Sorry that you had to deal with this - hopefully they will replace it quickly and get you back on the road!

+1. Thanks for the reply regarding the age of your 991.

Mine was a new build, delivered to me on April 6th 2018. Every time the car is at the Porsche Centre, I get them to carry out a precautionary visual inspection of the water pump. No issues so far, touch wood, and my car’s done over 19,000 so far.

Hoping your car is soon as good as new!

I picked up mine on April 9th of 2018, although mine had to take a little further boat ride over the pond to get to me...

19,000 miles! Daily driver and sole car. Only two minor glitches. And undergone a few modifications.

Pretty much the perfect DD.

Sorry to hear this. My T is on 23,500 miles now. The WP issue seems random in the mileage, age and model of 991 that it affects...

Count me in too!! MY '18 GTS with ~ 8,600 miles was manufactured 10/2017.
Interestingly enough, two weeks prior I had the two year service ($$) completed. No indication of a problem at that time.

Dealer told me today, the replacement water pump they will be installing in my 2018 C4S is a new design that they have been using. I didn’t ask for how long.

Add me to the list - 2018 C4S with 5813 miles.
MFG 9/17.

Saw the leak on garage floor and took pictures of engine compartment. Called Dealer, he had the replacement (redesigned pump according to him) water pumps in stock. Work being done this weekend. All he needed were my pictures to get the service warranty processed.

Mine got replaced by the dealer when I went in to get rear tires (about 9,500 mi).
I did not know it was leaking, but I did smell the coolant. Now I smell the coolant in my 2013 Cayenne diesel.

Update

I just spoke to my SA as they are completing my WP replacement work.

1. The WP issue impacts 991.2 cars only.
2. The issue is the seal on the internal bearing.
3. The new WP has a better bearing seal.
4. My SA has not heard of repeat WP issues after the new WP was installed.
5. Not all 991.2 cars experience this issue. Most don’t.
6. Impacted cars typically have lower milage.
7. They needed to remove bumper and several other components to fully access the WP.
