10k miles here.
I recall while shopping for a 991.2 in April of 2017 there was a 991.2 base with 300 miles on the odo getting the water pump replaced.

Last week, during my one year complimentary oil change and inspection (2018 GTS 2850 miles), the tech pointed out some coolant residue on water tube. I told him that the residue has been there since new......in either case a new water pump was installed.

The dealership also replaced the intake "valve block" and mentioned that there is a TSB out on it.

9 month old Carrera T. I’ll pass 12,000 miles this coming weekend. No coolant leak or water pump replacement, yet, but a faulty thermostat was recently replaced.

2018 GTS , water pump being replaced at 15000 miles ( and 29 track days).
Noticed it while I was doing an oil change.

Early 2017 model (june 2016 delivery). Noticed the leak at ~2,500 miles, but no drips on floor. Progressively worse at 7,000 miles, but still no drips. No observable drop in fluid level.

For those who have had the pump replaced, are dealers simply replacing it with an identical model?

they wouldn’t say. Presumably it is of an updated spec.

I’ve read somewhere that the 2019’s have a redesigned water pump, and that all 991’s needing pumps replaced will get the redesigned version.

I was told (by dealer) that the water pump was redesigned and was installed starting on mid-production run (?) for model year 2018.
