I think Porsche got to a point with the 992, where they have to meet the demand for a new type of audience in the modern market that prefers more synthetic values with cyber devices. The raw and visceral essence of the old school is being lost! In my case, I am not impressed with the Macan taillights or the huge digital panels, I will be glued to my little yellow bird for many more years. (It’s me)
This is a fair point. 992 has definitely adopted the tech revolution over the last gen. Which in-turn, loses some of the throwback ethos that my 991.1 & .2 provided. That being said, the new 992 taillights are no different of a comparison with the Macan this generation, when you look at the 991 generation compared to the older Macan taillights. Like every car manufacturer portfolio's, you'll see a lot of design similarities throughout; and Porsche is no exception. The taillights of the 991 were similar enough to the older Macan, as the 992 taillights are similar enough to the newer Macan if that makes sense. Even the Taycan taillights look like the 992.
Even more so matches the 991.1 gen
Same goes for the interior. A lot of the 991 crowd (including myself), reference the new interior of the 992 to be a mini-version of a Panamera. However, the 991 interior looked like the last gen Panamera as well. So with every generation, it goes hand-in-hand. There will always be naysayers when the new model arrives, and I'm one of them.
Design language aside, I think the raw & visceral essence you mentioned is the biggest gripe I have on the 992. It is too refined. Too modern. Especially in the cabin.
I wonder if the 992 GT cars will have the same modern cabin? I know it works for the grand touring aspect of the Carrera lineup, but I hope they keep the GT cars old school...

You're right on that point, I'm not trying to offend 992 owners, in Porsche cars all sales strategies with all models depend on the similarities to the big boy 911. In my opinion, it's not about the qualities from 992, everyone knows it's a great vehicle ... but its essence changed a bit to a more synthetic form (in my opinion). All of those enhancements - with digital devices, electric door handles, or oversized bodies - may be great for someone, but not everyone.
Your car is great, hands down ... and it's still a 911! But I am not comfortable with that new sleek style.
I will stick with old school samples for several years to come , because I know the car business in the world is turning less visceral and raw.
I have a couple of friends with 992, and they are very happy with the new Aston Martin’s style 911... they love it. See? It's all about tastes and priorities. Cool my friend!

I agree. No offense taken, as I've been harder on the 992 than just about anyone... The car has gotten large, especially the jump from the 997 to the 991. I do like the wide body though, just for the pure aesthetic looks. I mean jeesh, it's only an inch or so difference in width of a 911RSR! So it's a boat for sure.
I'm with you on all the old school outlooks, I've documented those points even more so on my 911T thread.
I'm getting 460 ft lbs engine actual filtered to 468 ft lbs engine actual filtered on some of my COBB AP logs when I'm pushing hard.
On the dyno, WHP-540 and TQ-536
Very cool! Do you have PDK or Manual? What kind of exhaust do you have? Headers? Plenum? Have you updated the Intercoolers? did you install GTS Turbos?
Sorry for asking a lot of questions, but i'm dealing with that too. Thanks for sharing!

Did a couple of small aesthetic mods over the last week.....
Rear logo (911), side stripes gone, Carerra T door logo, Function First Black/Yellow short shift ****.
Soul Performance Sport Cats installed, no pics of those, but many smiles for the past month!
Next.....black rear fender stone guards, radiator grilles and Tune!
