991.2 Carrera T - Picture Thread!

I think Porsche got to a point with the 992, where they have to meet the demand for a new type of audience in the modern market that prefers more synthetic values with cyber devices. The raw and visceral essence of the old school is being lost! In my case, I am not impressed with the Macan taillights or the huge digital panels, I will be glued to my little yellow bird for many more years. (It’s me)

I think the 992 rear grows on you. At least in GT3 form it's looking decent. There are now some pretty clear views of it. What was a concern seems fine and in the end the front is what might look odd with the Vtec kicked in hood scoops. Of the above I'll take that 1.2 car all day.

I like the 992's squared off frunk with the center hood indentation because it reminds of the 911s of my childhood. By the same token I prefer the 991.2's separated rear grill and window, although the combined rear grill/window in the 992 certainly looks sleek.
I do prefer the front end of the 991.2 overall because the 992 looks like it swallowed a hockey puck.
Also, I've noticed that the front end of 992s look abnormally wide at first glance whenever I see them in person. My eye quickly adapts and it looks normal again, but my first thought when the front end of a 992 unexpectedly enters my field of view is, "that looks like a 911 but it's too wide, must be a Panamera... oh wait, that IS a 911"... it's literally just a split second thought.

Interesting to see all the different features/options that can be specced on these cars. My T vs. bosses GTS.
He has 14-ways, PDK and full leather vs. my carbon buckets, manual, alcantara

The power on the T is 370hp/331Pound-Feet and GTS 450hp/400 Pound-Feet , the difference in power is caused only by boost and tune. The Carrera T has smaller turbos with smaller impellers (49mm compressor/45mm turbine) and the GTS has larger turbos & housings with larger impellers (55mm compressor/48mm turbine), boost for your T is 13 lbs and on the GTS is18 lbs .
comparing the body, , the T has reduced sound absorption with less insulation, the lightweight glass rear window and rear side windows, the inner door openers from the 911 GT-versions, shorter gear shifter, The GTS is wide body and has wheels with central lock. On the T, weight to power is 8.47Lbs / hp, and on the GTS is 7.48Lbs / hp. Brakes on your T has the smaller rotors and calipers, since your GTS's friend has the mid size iron brakes. Carrera T wheels are 11.5"rear / 8.5front, since the GTS has 12"/rear / 9"front, Both models are fitted with OEM Sport mirrors, but your friend has optioned self folding mirrors which only works with the basic mirror shape. Front "Sport" Bumper on the GTS is OEM but on the T is opcional, (you have the regular Carrera bumber). Your friend also has LED lights with water cleaning system, you have Xenon lights without water cleaning system. Same Sport exhaust, and both cars have sport chrono. ......... cool !

Interesting. I didn’t realize the GTS ran 0.5 inch wider rims but same tire size/width.

Both are great cars and feel quite different driven back to back. Either way, a great 911 experience!

Differences would come down to engine and transmission/drivetrain since the suspension setup is similar. Haven’t spent a ton of time in the GTS but it’s clearly better on the top end and noticeable lag compared to the base engine (though not much if you have ever drive a big turbo car from 10+ years ago). The PDK is great but it’s nowhere near as engaging. The GTS also feels like the heavier car because it is, you can feel it in corners vs the T (probably has 300+ lbs on my car due to PDK, 14-ways, widebody, etc.).
For highways the GTS wins hands down, its a brute on a straight. But for handling and driver engagement the T is my preference (and my car )

Thank you for your reply.
My impressions were almost identical, but I didn’t have the opportunity to drive them back-to-back, rather ~4-6wks apart before settling on my T. In addition, it was also over a year ago when I last drove the 991.2 GTS, so was curious to hear another’s impression (and whether I was “remembering correctly”).

i'll never like the 992. to me it looks like porsche hired an aston martin designer and told him to design a 911 and this was his iteration. it's all i can ever think about. the proportions are all wrong.

Just because we touched the GTS’s topic and this is a picture thread, I think is appropriate to upload a couple of nice pic of my silver one back on 2017. Cool!
