Default NAVIKS CarPlay retrofit

Anyone have experience with the kit made by NAVIKS that my local shop is recommending and has done before?https://naviks.com/

I feel like many of these solutions are rebranded versions of ones made by the small handful of manufacturers in China

Interesting product, but I imagine that XM/Sirius is not integrated.I can't see anything on the web or in the video about it.

You could probably just stream the XM/Sirius App from AppleCar Play

While I haven’t done the install yet (NAVIKS) I was told that the CarPlay/phone takes over when you select it as an input (by pressing a current “hard key” assigned to that function on the PCM). If you unselect it control goes back to your PCM screen as before and you can use Sat radio or CD.

If you want to hear SiriusXM while in CarPlay then as said above use the SiriusXM iPhone app.

Using XM app instead of the built it XM is like saying just use your iPhone for Car Play instead of having car play.

In the video, I did not see any interface that has a pass through for any of the other PCM capabilities beyond FM radio.

Actually it looks like there is a native CarPlay app for Sirius.

Since it streams through the internet you will no longer need the Satellite Receiver portion. Looks like a win win here. As you get a Sirius/XM interface in an Apple CARPLAY specific App, so you don't need to use your phone and makes the sat hardware in the car redundant and no longer needed.

I don’t even see a volume adjustment on the screen

Volume butttons at the bottom of the screen.
Looks like when you're in an app, the bottom of the screen has volume and track forward/back buttons. I think the button on the left is to take you back to the CarPlay/Android Auto screen. Not sure what the button on the far right does.

Without steering wheel controls I'd agree. It's an extra step you'd have to take to change the volume which isn't bad but just not as easy.

This would be a great option for PCMs that got fried somehow and aren't under warranty.

Would love to see an install and see it in action. Am sure there are quirks. Some you may be able to live with, others not.
