seems unlikely, that should be actual hardware. Perhaps you don’t have the option, I’m not an expert.

I didn’t look too hard but I couldn’t either. I did it myself. Took about 6 hours give or take.

Installed JoyeAuto, backup camera, dash cam on Monday, so far very impressed with the result. Love the OEM look and backup camera integration. Sent to a local shop that did a few backup camera, sterero upgrades, dashcam install over the past few years, took them good 5 hours as it's the first time they do this. Learned almost everything from this thread, so thanks everyone for contributing.

One key thing I learned is - if you can't find AUX input in Source, try reset the PCM "Press and hold the Info button for approximately 10 seconds until the PCM reboots. Immediately select the following from the CAR>>OPTION>>Set PCM System>>Reset PCM>>Vehicle Handover>>Yes>", this was key to a huddle in my installation!

JoyeAuto Apple CarPlay

Sorry for the shaky picture but this looks almost identical to my previous Macan backup camera screen!

Looks slick. What was the final installed price?

I did JoyeAuto, backup camera, dash camera, they charged $700 total, if I want to add a front brumper camera, another $100.

Dang. That's very reasonable. If you want to DM the name of the shop, I'm interested.

LOL damn I would do an install for $700

It's really not that hard. Also I enjoy working on my own car. Also there aren't any special tools required. Just screw drivers and T-25Torx

Yeah, I feel the JoyeAuto installation is probably not too bad (auto amateur's video is super detailed), but I'm not comfortable with instaling backup cameras and dash cameras, also hiding the cables and the JoyeAuto box in a tidy way...

I guess the other problem of living in a NYC apartment is that we don't have a garage where we can work on cars, most apartment building garages forbid any kind of auto works and there is no power outlet accessible. We just have to pay the premium of having shops work on our cars, they pay high rents and then charge more.

can't wait to move out of the city.

In my defense I thought that included the JoyeAudio unit at first. But yeah, sometimes you have to pay folks when you don't have easy access to tools and such.

I just completed this install on my 981 over the weekend (joyeauto) and so far so good - the unit is responsive and have the sound dialed in fairly well. The only issues I've noticed is that the screen is slightly elongated/stretched vertically. It's nitpicky but I'm a product designer so I notice the small details. looking at other photos on this thread I noticed the same. I took a photo of my screen and did a screen capture through my phone to compare them, you can see the circles in the UI are elongated (photo on top and screen capture on bottom). Does any one know if the updates fix this? Also does anyone have a link/password to download the updates? I tried and wasn't able to get it through the website.

To close the loop here, Nick did get back very quickly and say that as long as we didn't notice anything wrong, then the invalid state was probably fine. After installation, PCM31FDC went valid!

I messaged the company on FB and they said the installation requires the PCM to be removed and opened. I'm guessing it's basically the same kit as JoyeAuto and NM Automotive.

Just listed brand new (unopened) unit on eBay if interested. Selling as I don't have confidence to install myself.
