i tried android auto and it’s very sluggish, touch screen is not very responsive. But again android auto is not yet officially supported.

I just installed mine and CarPlay and android auto are included on the same hardware. If you connect an iPhone, it will load CarPlay, if you connect android, it will load android auto.
i tried android auto and it’s very sluggish, touch screen is not very responsive. But again android auto is not yet officially supported.
I know they are working on Android and wifi. Was told that a lot of the bugs would be resolved by end of October. Am willing to wait until wifi gets up and running, even if it means next year.

So I fitted the kit from Nick to my Macan over the weekend. Very detailed instructions and it works like a charm. It would have been considerably easier if i'd had the tight tool from Porsche/Audi to remove the vents - the bent coat hanger got there in the end. All in took about 6 hours, very happy with the results.

Keep us posted if you end up getting the unit installed by this vendor and feedback would be great!
So - I found someone local in the Bay Area that will do the install - in Campbell, CA. They quoted me $325 and seemed to be familiar with the modification (they asked which manufacturer as they only do it for certain ones - and NM was good).
I've asked Nick if this allows a bunch of us to go ahead with this - if the group buy was still available.
FYI - I also asked the audio shop what it would take to do an alpine head unit (the one with the wireless carplay and it would be around $2,200 all in due to the adapter kits you also need to buy for the Bose/Burm and rear camera. He said you would lose the parking sensor visual (but retain the audio) for my model.
So funny I'm paying to do this on the Cayenne when the GT3 comes with this and I don't use it!
