@Haidang Congrats for getting the Chstek installed and thank you for sharing the pictures and install notes.

You said "Back up camera red wire connect to AMP-CONT also( it works for me)" and I think you have a BOSE unit and so you don't need the AMP-CONT wire, which is just suppplying +12V for your camera

We have an open question for non-BOSE cars where we need to figure out if the ASK amp needs to be woken up by the HU - if it does then AMP-CONT would be used for that

I'd recommend any non-BOSE installers try KEY1 as this should supply +12V once the key is inserted (same time that the HU wakes up). I'll be trying this at the weekend when I do my install and I'll report back..

I’d like to make a quick reference regarding CHSTEK Android and Apple car play HU that I just installed in my car lately.
Erisin was my previous one, installation and configuration was not bad at all(back up camera working, multi function steering wheel working…) thanks to Enthusiasts in this thread especially ZedZed.
Hey Zed!
Thanks a bunch for your expertise.
So, my 911 is equipped with BOSE PCM 3.1
I ordered this CHSTEK

OMG! Post of the year century! Wow! What a terrific contribution to the knowledgebase for the new go-to Android HU, the CHSTEK. Thank you sop much for taking the time to post that.

As for the power for the backup camera I got the following response from Chstek:

Sir, there's a reversing line to power the camera
Seems to be a brown wire
In the power cable we provide, there is a wire for the reversing camera.

So based on their response I could only find one brown wire in the main wiring harness (see picture) I will not be able to try this out for another couple of days. Hopefully this works for PDK and manual transmissions.

That's an interesting reply from them, usually with these units any wires you need to use are open ended, whereas the brown wire would need a tap in order to use it as its connected at both ends.

Seems odd but will be interesting to see. I am still going to try KEY1 as I'd prefer not to use any wire taps unless I really have to

On Porsche cars the brown wire is usually a ground wire, so I would proceed with caution re that advice from the HU manufacturer.

Can we trace the brown wire to a trusted pin-out diagram?

I can't find a suitable diagram, but I know for a fact that the brown wire on the Panamera is ground because I used it as such when installing an accessory for my HU. I think it's standard practice for German cars to use brown for ground. The one thing we know for sure is that the switched 12V+ wires on these harnesses is red, so if I was looking for switched power, that is where I'd be going. I just don't think the advice given by the manufacturer is right. ICBW, obvs! I'll do a more thorough search for a colour-coded pinout diagram.

EDIT: Well, knock me down with a feather. Here's what Perplexity AI search engine came up with:

So I take back what I said about the HU manufacturer! ***-um-ing of course they didn;t just use an AI search engine to get their answer

A couple of other sources that might help here, specifically looking at the Android 16-pin power connector.

They're essentially saying the same thing i.e. the reverse connector (or BACK) is the top row, third in from the right as you're looking into the connection end of the 16-pin socket.

@mamick - can you confirm?

For those who have just gotten their new CHSTEK units, is the "bright dash icons" issue fixed from the factory, or do you still have to install the fix?
I just ordered mine yesterday and am trying to figure out any and all things that I can so I can install it with a running start instead of fumbling through it.

Im very much interested in the current discussion on wiring up the aftermarket backup camera. I have 2 coming from Aliexpress as my Cayenne camera is integrated in liftgate. Why do I have two ordered? Because I originally ordered the dynamic steering guided model that does NOT have the ability to shut off guidelines. When I hooked up the SKYSHADOW (CHSTEK) unit last night I was surprised to see the dynamic steering guides working when backing up. No camera image of course.... So I ordered the straight line guide camera that does have the ability to shut off guide lines. I presume the camera should be used as an image source and the HU will do the overlay with dynamic steering.
Regarding testing which wire is switched, you can use piercing probes with your DMM multimeter to see what is going on in that line with no cutting, splicing or changing the wiring. I have a pair from my Fluke and they are an awesome tool to have if you dont own them. I can check the brown lines on my unit and report back to the group later today.

The dynamic reversing guides are overlaid on backup image by HU. Good too know. Unfortunately the camera I ordered has reversing guidelines that canNOT be disabled. I got to order the one that can....

I second those wire piercing probes. I use them with my DMM and they are very useful, especially when access to the back of the connector isn't easy to get at (generally I'd probe the connector itself if accessible using a normal DMM probe). An alternative is a set of needle probes but the piercing type are easier to use if you are working singlehandledly as they can hold on to the wire all by themselves.

For anyone who doesn't own a DMM I very much recommend getting hold of one - they don't have to cost a fortune, and they can make life a lot easier when doing stuff such as discussed in this thread (see my earlier post on the subject here).

For UK memebers, available from Amazon:

I just checked brown wire. It's switched 12v when backing up only! No voltage in drive or park with car running
