Welcome to the new head unit owners club!

The Amazon link is posted here in the last couple of months, so if you search back you should find it

The FAKRA C > SMA is correct. The other isn't.
FAKRA D > SMA is more difficult to find BUT my understanding is that the FAKRA Z connector fits any female FAKRA socket, as it's "unkeyed" (no tabs on the outside).

No, because you want a FAKRA male plug. Suggest you go with the FAKRA Z I linked to.

7862 is a solid choice IMO.

RAM is crucial and IMO takes precedence over CPU if two COUs have similar performance. 8 gig of RAM is, again IMO, essential for smooth, easy performance, especially if running multiple apps simultaneously. Android can be a bit of a memory hog so it always pays to have as much as you can get. I think this is also one of the reasons why the developers of these units stick to Android 10, 11 or 12. Note that many of the latest phones running Android 14 are now offering 16 gigs of RAM.

SoI I just need to figure out model and memory? and a good camera if I want to add.
The wireless tailight cam an option?
From what I have read, the wireless backup cams can be a PITA. I'd go for a good quality, metal-bodied camera with a glass (not plastic) lens. Look to spend about £30 GBP (40-ish USD). There is a camera that fits into one of the number plate light units and that makes for an easier install, but less of a OEM look. It can be a pain to wire in a backup camera, but once done, the install is instantly forgotten as you wonder why you waited so long!

This is a great thread. Wish I saw it before frying my PCM 3.1 trying to add the ISUDAR board. I had a bad connection of flex cable and saw my PCM PCB board create a small black puff of smoke and dead. I highly encourage others to leave their stock unit alone and go this route if you want carplay. Original PCMs are available from Germany, cost $3500 and up and must be programmed. I hope this is the low cost upgrade before dropping $1000s on OEM PCM which kinda sucks anyway.

So what I gather from the thread is 8.4in screen, 8G RAM min, 7862 processor and optical box. Wait to buy until May 1 when AliExpress goes on sale.

Thanks for the link. Says DVD? Typo?

I have a Cayenne with Bose so I need the optical box. I dont see this seller offering one. Maybe its somewhere in their store but cannot find it? I see CHSTEK offers one.

You've got it. It's a great upgrade and gives you so much more than CarPlay.
p.s. don't forget the two extra FAKRA Male > SMA Male adapters (FAKRA types C and D, per this thread)
