How would you describe the sound difference between the Sharkwerks exhaust versus the stock TT?

Um, the Sharkwerks sounds deeper and more free flowing, but it's not too terrible in the neighborhood streets, either. The stock sounds muffled.

When I bought my new '17 TTS, I tried hard to keep the stock exhaust, hoping I would get used to it and sort of liked it, but to me it sounded more like a vacuum cleaner and did not match the caracter of the car at all.
I got the Sharkwerks, as I also wanted to keep the stock cats mainly to keep full warranty, and I'm very happy with it as it sounds just like a proper aftermarket exhaust should sound.

As we all prepare for the 2020 track season, what's the latest on tires?

I ran the Cup2R's this fall, and they were 2 seconds or more faster than the standard Cup2 at VIR...for about 3 solid days. After that, they gave up some grip and I finished up the season with them at Sebring with what I expect was about the same grip as Cup2's, but the tread is shot and I certainly didn't get more than 8 track days out of them. Of course, I just got a new set of both Cup2R and Cup2 N2 to be ready to have fun starting in March at VIR.

What's everybody planning to do for tires in 2020?

Past season:
  • Trofeo R mainly (Fastest)
  • Cup 2 N1 (I was on stock wheels and couldn't fit N2 or Cup2R sizes on them) - About 0.6 sec slower than Trofeo Rs in a 1:46 lap.

Tires I am thinking to try on the upcoming season:
  • Goodyear 3R
  • Nankang AR1
  • Hoosier R7 (I wish there were A7s in 20s but there isn't to my knowledge)

Looking for an inexpensive option for wheels to fit a 5bolt.

This years main priority is getting 265/305 Trofeo Rs to fit right lol

I can look into options for you. What would be inexpensive in your book?

Ideally less than 3k. The goal is really to just get 265 & 325 (eventually when Trofeos come in that size) to fit with my PCCBs. I can't be too picky on weight without having to pay Forgeline or FI-R pricing lol. This is purely for track. I have set of E89s for the street

OZ has some wheel packages that are 20x9 front, 20x12 rear that would work fine for your setup, but 20x9.5 would be better if you could find it. TireRack has an offering for the OZ Legerra HLT in the 20x9 and 20x12 for well under $3k in 5-lug.

Randy, what is the weight of a GT2RS with a full tank of fuel but no driver? The mags have the weights all over. 3241 lbs from Porsche and 3376lbs from Car and Driver. Both with full tanks and Magnesium wheels.

I'm not sure. I pulled my wheels and have HRE R101LW's, but also steel Girodisc rotors and a half cage, so I'm probably heavier than that...probably pushing near 3400+ with a full tank of gas. I haven't weight it in this configuration yet.

Latest additions, front replica GT2RS bumper and rear decklid and wing. Could not quantify the impact because I changed my suspension settings and ran a different engine map as well.. but recorded two lap records in two different circuit 3.5 mile + configurations during the last time attack. So it seems to work somewhat.

Next going in is a larger custom CF rear wing, custom wing uprights, rear GT2RS diffuser and front custom splitter extending by about 5 inches.

Nice. Did you go with wicked motorsports replica front bumper decklid and wing?

Remember to think about venting the front wheel well. The lift caused by that area is considerable. Porsche ran their record runs with the rock grills in the vents removed because it helped reduce lift so much. Jean, your car is getting pretty fierce, but clearly your driving is a considerable factor, too.

No I was very pressured with time so I went directly to a chinese manufacturer.. Decent quality but wouldn't use these pieces on a street car though, this was strictly for functional purposes. I will remove them once the season is over.

Thanks Randy, I totally agree with your comment about the fender louvres, they provide about 50% of the front downforce, I just needed a quick fix for downforce under very pressured timelines, and decided to add instead a very high quality CF customized front splitter that will be fitted under the GT2RS bumper this week. A larger and higher rear wing will balance the rear. The car is super well setup now I think, tested many suspension settings and did a corner balance. I might have reached its maximum, still running stock weight and seriously outpacing anything out there by few seconds with better, and especially much younger drivers . Meth, water spray and a custom tune did the rest.
