This looks like a way to increase sales of the 3.0T 911s. If the weight comes in low, and the driving dynamics are there---it will be a hit to increase interest in the new motors

Well this is an interesting twist. So are we saying this wingless gt3 we've seen driving around is this 911T or there still are two models, 911T and some sort of wingless GT3? If it's the former, kinda a letdown it's gonna have a turbo pumper but would make sense for Porsche to do that to keep original 911r owners whole. Very interesting, thanks for the update gonna be interesting to see what unfolds in the coming weeks.

Update from cleaning lady that looks better in heels then a cleaning lady: 911T is real, Carrera based with turbo engine, positioned somewhere near the S, stripped down to present as "purist car" priced close to S price with less options. Not to be confused with Touring package on GT3, Speedster or Classico etc.
If she is wrong she will be sacked.

I have received the exact same info here from my Porsche Center. The 911T engine will be the base 3.0 litre turbo, the car will have some sort of fixed spoiler (ducktail?). The dealers received an official heads up (without picture) from Porsche already 10 days ago.

Glad to see they're bringing back a remotely accessible purist car.
Maybe Porsche's leadership has finally realized that the greatest enemy of their company is the older version of itself.

Wow, another 911 model! 30 would be just about right.

No. Two different cars.

The whole 'unlimited production 911R' nonsense in that article is garbage.

Can a 3L turbo really be a purist's car? Sounds like they're going to produce something akin to a sticker kit base .2 Carrera, just replacing the stickers with some chrome trim and a rear spoiler. Hopefully it'll at least have a 6 speed.

A more analog Carrera with some lightened parts. Far from an R, but improvement at the very least.

A base Carrera with lightweight wheels, a well-tuned analog suspension (a la Boxster Spyder), mechanical LSD, no RWS, LWB, reduced sound deadening and other weight reduction, manual with short shifter, sport exhaust, and an Aerokit would be a compelling package if priced right...which IMO is around base Carrera MSRP ($90k). At Carrera S MSRP ($105k+) a potential buyer will be looking at the GT4.
