991.2 GT3 will come with "Touring Package" option
#976
So yes, I revise my statement to admit it probably can be done, but I still maintain that you cannot get an official Porsche dealer to do this for you because of liability reasons. You said above that "any dealer can do this" and it's hard to take you seriously when you make statements like that.
The 991 GT3 is not new. People have pulled up the carpet expecting to do this mod early on and discovered the missing hardware and I don't think anyone dared move forward (probably for the reasons I list above).
Maybe when people start ripping up the carpet on 991.2 GT3s we will have some good news, but why are you claiming people haven't done this to 991.1 GT3s when they obviously have?

What I meant by 'any dealer can do this' is from a technical standpoint. I didn't mean to imply that all of them would; just that they could.
997 owners have DIY'ed it, after all.
Let's leave it as a "we shall see how difficult it is" to do.
It is definitely possible!
As as far as insurance, there was a post a few above this one stating that it was not an issue to insure.

In a different country on a different model.

Maybe the easiest is for Porsche to throw the back seat as option and charge another $15-20k for it. No point to do more like a Touring package. No alteration needed, more profit for Porsche, wouldn't it?

I never backpedaled; but sure where you read that. I always said it can definitely be done!
anyway, let's get back to the OP topic: Touring package.
Hopefully all of this banter helps convince Porsche to offer rear seats as an option!!

Agreed, I want to here more rumour and conjecture, someone tell me something a tea lady said! I was at my dealership today getting a roof rack fitted I didn't ask about allocations or anything, the bliss of ignorance etc...

Spoke with dealer today - he told me P is "still deciding/ working it out", and there are some hoops to jump though. Apparantly the touring is not set in stone.

As demand for turbo is low why not offer a C2S with a 4.0L slightly detuned
and call it a Touring package?
