Not saying it is anything in particular I am just saying people jump to conclusions.
The only "show pony" type 911 cars I would consider buying would be a speedster or a sport classic with a ducktail.
I GT3 touring sounds like a limped out car. I'd rather just get a GT3 with sofas or a turbo with backseats. Either way if I am driving nobody is going to fit in the backseat. I'm only 6-1/6-2 and there is only room for Frodo Baggins.

My point in all this : I've used to be fascinated by countless videos from Porsche showing rigorous testing of new models in the freezing cold or scorching heat for a million miles. I used to tell my friends how great Porsche is! And I know they are still testing them, but now I've learned how much marketing is involved.
So Dr Walliser and Preuninger are great engineers, but even better marketers,if that makes sense...

Details on Touring Package will be released to dealers in Europe tomorrow (Wednesday).
And on Thursday, I get to to see the new GT3 in person with Jacky Ickx. I will confirm touring package details then, if not before.

How different a driving experience do you think a manual, wingless 991.2 will be to your 911R?

I've started following Porsche very closely fairly late compared to some of the others. That's because of my age(mid thirties now) and lack of money to afford them in my early twenties. So I would say I've started around the 996 GT3 or so,but I've caught up with the older Porsches too now.

1) that depends on the rear steering calibration
2) that depends on how much lighter the 911R is vs the potential Tourer
3) also depends on induction noise tuning as R has a weirder system vs typical GT3
4) porsche suspension/ diff tuning changes?
My guess: the tire compounds are roughly the same but the R (my particular one with light battery, LWB, no radio, no nose lift, and future Linton Lightweight sparkle bits) will be tremendously lighter than a 4 seat leather clad stereo and no CF fenders etc car.
The 100-200+LB difference (with Linton bits) will be a big delta and the experience will be totally predicated on that. None of us know what the changed bits will really "feel like" yet.
But I think the weight savings from R to .2GT3 in touring guise would be really noticeable. My goal is 2800lbs for my R, with fluids and 1/4 tank.
