Simply a matter of semantics..... he never got a R for himself long term but for several months he was driving a company R.

Can someone explain the difference between a solid lifter system vs hydraulic lifter system. I'm sure I'm not the only one who doesn't know so I'll ask the question. Thank you.

Regarding lower mirrors:

They seem to look like they come standard in a matte black with an optional gloss black option.

Center marker not available in RED if choosing leather wheel option. Only available on Alcantara.

I assume the leather wheel just has the matched black leather marker?

Interesting the steering wheel trim is all black/black like the R. The RS has the silver/black.

Sorry, corrected my earlier post.

After looking the lower mirrors in pictures from the show looks like they come standard matte black with a gloss black option on the configurator.

The configurator pictures also show black lowers as standard when NOT choosing the gloss black version.

With carbon mirrors, not sure if I'd leave matte black lowers or do gloss? My first intuition would be to do gloss to match the gloss look of the carbon.

Exactly. Aside from the roof, hood and numbered plaque. I can't thibk of anything better I like about the 911r.

Are the wing end plates gloss or matte?

That's a good question!!

From pics they look matte and match the rest of the black trim. Even look at the rear diffuser, a matte black. Note matte does has have a slight sheen to it. Not flat black.

Or is the incremental cost of each new engine peanuts after they spread the development costs for 9A1 over more and more cars?

Meaning, is RS/R still a more expensive engine with more expensive/exotic component materials (although probably inferior engine)? Was part of the engineering feet to get a lower budget engine to have similar to better performance?

I am not asking this as a "is my RS still better" question. It's pure curiosity after discussion with a friend of mine reminding me of all the talk about uber expensive engine parts in 991RS and R. No doubt this Gt3 and all future GT product will be better than the last; no debate.
No sure I would agree. Motorsports engines get the best of the best and the .2 engines is based on the R and RSR engines. That to me tells me it is a more robust engine with racing pedigree. It's irrelevant if they can amortize the cost by using this new engine in motorsports as well as street cars. Expensive is not always better.
Most importantly. Porsche has been testing these engines on the racetrack all last year. It took them a while to get it right.
E engines = disaster
F engines = improved to fix E shortcomings
G0/G6 engines = reliable
991.2gt3 engines = race proven and 5 year of feedback of this new platform.
Is there a single mass fly wheel option on this car? If so than that is a big deal unless you must have wing delete. The SMFW changes the character of the car in a major way.

Beyond the name-plate LE (which is a biggin) LWFW is the 800lb gorilla in the room difference not being discussed much. My past experience is that it was a game changer between 997 models that had DMFW and LWFW. could easily be upgraded in most of the 997s. Sounds like not an option in 991.2-3. That's too bad.
