I know there are suspension differences but I wonder if those looking for some sort of R facsimile from the Touring would gain some of this looseness / playfulness by ditching the PSC2 in favour of MPS4+ or some other more road oriented tyre? I understand the new Dunlops are more road biased than the Michelins.... or drive more in the rain
Depends what's homologated. I wanted to try MPS4+ on my RS 4.0 to make it more slidey and get the wear and wet benefits but Cup is the only homologated tyre for it. Porsche wasn't interested in fitting anything else and I didn't want to risk my insurance cover.

Lots of Rs having their first birthday around now, though it seems longer.
Good you are still enjoying yours as much as ever. I'm sure a lot of us feel the same way.
Yes, still enjoying the car very much. Good to see you enjoying your car too. Love the color on yours!!
Interesting discussion on making a 911 GT3 manual into a 911R. Of course, given enough time and money, it can be done – same as a 73 911 RS can be recreated from a more common model of a similar vintage. But a replica is almost never a 100% accurate recreation, and to me – instead of standing on its own, only serves to enhance the specialness of the original.
So, here is some food for thought…
Instead of spending significant $$$ to convert one carefully developed Porsche recipe – the GT3 – into another – the 911R, and ending up with something that is neither fish nor fowl, one could make their own recipe with the GT3. For example, it would be fun to make a truly unique 911 GT3 – e.g, add back seats, folding carbon buckets in the front, light Mg wheels, battery, and other parts from Robert Linton, custom paint, special exhaust and engine tuning, etc.
Of course, one wouldn’t get their money back from such a car and it wouldn’t be collectible. But then again, the same applies to a GT3 based 911R replica. But in the above example, the end result would be a truly unique car and that is exactly to your taste.
Ordered last Monday the hard bound English version of this 911R book. Books were released to the public beginning today November 30 217 and await the arrival.

My 911R hard cover book by "T.A.G. Motor Books" arrived last Friday. It is a very cool book to own and read upon the history of this wonderful car 911R.
"Special 3D-illustrations were created exclusively for this book. They were printed on acetate foils to grant the reader an x-ray view of the packaging of the modern 911R. The design of the cover pays tribute to the car itself by resembling the interior with the brown/houndstooth combination. The book is protected by a silver slipcase which features the two stripes that are so characteristic for this car. The English version is graced by red stripes, the German version carries green stripes."
Just like the real car, it is limited and numbered. You can order the same tag (limitation number of your 911R). It also listed the basic configuration information for each one of the 991 copies of the 911R which is very cool. The last one 991, is a PTS on Sapphire Blue.
Slip case hard bound. Red Stripes English version. Green Stripes German version
Slip case and 911R book
Hard bound book cover in Houndstooth design just like the inserts on the 911R seats.
Weight differences of the 991 model family.
All books are uniquely tagged (serial number).

The last 991 in PTS Sapphire Blue.
All 991 copies of the 2016 911R chassis basic configuration are listed. (e.g., color, country, wheel color, etc.)

Reason: fix error
I received my English version last week - it is such a terrific read, with so many great details. A true encyclopedia of the 911R if anyone is interested. Highly recommended. Got mine to match my limitation number. Very cool.
