In our market like most others you can extend the factory warranty till the 12th year. We assume by then they will have a fix for GT3/RS owners. Either that or people are going to get their monies worth with their extended warranties....

Does the RS have the same problem?

Same valve train same potential problem although issues have only started to be murmured I Europe where they were early delivered and we have no specific owners issues reported on these boards yet. These are the later G engine same as they were replacing GT3 with recently, and we are also yet to have any G failures since Sept 2015 when they started arriving. I think we will see GT3 and RS failures start hitting the database from next track season. As our seasons are opposite and I already have 6 track days and 5000 miles on my replacement engine I will try and double the usage over the next 6 months while its your winter and see if anything breaks. If it's still going ok at 10,000 miles and 12 track days then it will have surpassed the E engine which lasted only 6500 miles and 10 track days...

Thanks Bronson. Worth mentioning G series RS engines since July G057xx IIRC engine numbers now have the third modification same as 911R engines with DLC cams.
Although as stated above we don't have specific examples of G engine failures on this board we have been told of these happening overseas particularly In Europe where the earlier RS have just completed their second season in NTC races.
The factory would not have thought to upgrade the G engine with DLC cams, possible new DLC finger followers and possible new designed heads if it didn't have concerns the G engine was not up to the task....
I believe the DLC upgraded G engines are what they are going to put in the 991.2 Gat3 and call them "all new with oil pump and drive train revisions". That's no lie if you look at what we have now with the "G1" series replacement engines GT3 owners are currently getting (upgraded to same as latest RS and 911R with DLC cams) and what we started with in Sept 2013 before even the rod bolt recall...
There's another thread on here that gives you all the history...
