If on a hot day and the tank run dry during a session, then the ECU just pull timing to adjust for the higher intake temperature.
Thanks. 20 minutes seems borderline acceptable though, especially if that's on the optimistic side of things.

Did he tell you what temp constitutes 'hot', and also is there a readout in the car so you know the fill level?

20 mins running time at the ring which is definitely shorter than what most people do each stint probably means less at a 'normal' GP track as the % of the lap at full throttle would be imho significantly less at the ring vs say Spa.

Hopefully numerous sensors to tell temp, level, warnjng that low, yada yada.

5 Liters every 20 minutes? That’s a lot of water to lug around in order to cover a typical 5 session track day during a hot summer day. At NCM this summer it was 100 degrees one day, freaking hot...my RS handled it like a champ while others overheated. Hopefully it’s just as stated above and any water would do; otherwise lugging 25L of water around is no easy task!

My track is 8 or 9 40 minute sessions per day - so about 90L if you can refill quickly. Seems to defeat any reliability advantage of running Porsche. Pretty academic as my dealer has joined the premium seeking club.

It also depends on the impact - i.e. How much power is lost if water reservoir runs out? Will differ depending on ambient, but is it material, or just the last 10 or 20bhp?

Frankly I’m surprised anyone wants one. It drinks water!

What the heck, I’m going to take mine to Sebring and challenge it to a drinking contest.

Oddly, they saw an order for a GT2 in my name...so my order is in the system at least, just need to get it confirmed by the top dogs. Since I don't have a 918, I'm not holding my breath. Yellow with black would be nice.
FYI, Customer delivery centre at Leipzig is closed due to renovation works that are running behind schedule.

Just a guess on my part, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's around 10% (~70hp) on a hot day where the motor is running hard. Many forced induction cars lose well over 10% from heat soak.

Odd, I was told it was paperwork. since you were just there you would know, and you have been a very valuable source of info here on RL. Good to know. This makes sense. It kinda sucks that I cant pick up my car and was given less then a weeks notice. If it was my first Porsche and a dream trip I would be upset, but since its neither I wasn't exactly bothered. Will still have a nice trip into the mountains, only I will get to pile miles on their car, not mine!

I guess there is a cost if you want 700hp. Maybe someone will be able to figure out how to fit a larger tank for people that want to run non-stop. If it's too much hassle just hire a water boy for the day. He can top up your water in the pits and you won't have to get out of your car.

Just curious which tracks in NA can enable this monster to run full tilt for a full 20 min session? Sebring?

They are very guarded as to the exact temperature threshold.

Another question is, how many run their track day with a full tank of fuel and carry that extra weight around.

My ClubSport do 50L per 100km at full tilt, that's 4.7 mpg. 100km is 20 laps on my track and that's 3 sessions. I never fill the tank to the top which is a 100L tank.

I refuel every session and just put in enough for each session, which is one 20L jug. It's really not a problem refuelling the 5L water tank when I refuel the gas tank after every session.
