There might also be an antilag system, in those Goodwood videos there's odd popping exhaust note. Either the driver uses flappers and drives against rev limiter or it's antilag popping.

RS's turbos have apparently bigger turbines than previous models, just using 991 turbo S's units and just increasing boost would rise backpressure and thus also EGT and IAT. IC water spray could be added because IC placing is (has always been) far from optimal, limiting both size and flow across them. Of course there's aerospace quality ICs (used in racing), but €10k+/pair can be limiting factor even in high end car like this one.
Pete, The 991.2 Turbo S does not have any turbo lag, I never thought I would be able to say that with honesty about any 911 turbo but it is an incredible lump, with its high CR you literally have to watch the boost gauge to know if the turbos are boosting or not, the transition from N/A to boosted is that good.... The GT2RS surely can't be quite as good with its bigger turbos bringing peak torque in a few hundred rpm later but I'll bet its close.

The GT3RS is am amazing Porsche experience. Normally aspirated high rev 911.
The GT2RS is a 911 world beater.

Would almost want one of each.

Why Porsche do not want too make this car lighter if they actually could do?
Weissach pack cost a lots of money to save 30kg but there's a lot of "crap" as standard to make this car even heavier.
For example the Sound Package Plus with 8 loudspeakers and amplifer...(do I really need 8 loudspeakers and amplifer for the track car?)
There's no option for lightweight battery as well wich is 13,5kg lighter and costs "only" €2280.-

Are we sure the lightweight battery isn't standard?

I suspect many/most GT2 RS customers will also have a GT3 RS in the garage.

For $300K everything should be standard!
Even PTS and CS in a box for US.

I can see the upcharge for Weissach edition but that should be the only upcharge option.

trying to think this through --

might want one -- but only cuz of the cool idea of having one -- honestly, this would be the ONLY rationale

concept of a $325-350k track car is a non starter for me... i definitely wouldn't intensively track a car of that value -- furthermore, at a turning track like sonoma i can't imagine being wot in a 2rs... only wot for a few precious moments on that track in a 1gt3...

then if not, having such a beast for driving on the road is completely lunatic, moronic overkill - a 991.1 gt3 already can't be properly and fully enjoyed on the road

indeed, the 991 rs platform is very enticing to have as a track car... such stability, aero, grip, such high limits... but even picking up a 991.1 3rs at $200k (much less a 700hp 2rs) ... would i even track that car 20-25 days a year??? hmmmm

325k gt2 rs ---- conundrum

At least it isn't on standard options and individual options either.

I was convinced I'd buy this. Even sold Mr Purple in anticipation. I hear the exhaust. Reminds me of the note of my old 997 2rs; even with SW bypass, it never gave me goosebumps. The new one has more crackle and pop, more volume. But why can't Porsche make a better exhaust note on their turbo's. Is it that hard? Must be? MB and Ferrari have done it; not AS good as their NA but not a loud fart can with some crackle either. Is it me or does the turbo'd Carrera even sound better than this thing.

I hope I'm proven wrong, but for an exotic price tag, I want an exotic exhaust note.

i'm seeing more and more people question the price of this car.. they can't all be "haters".. i think it's just a rational assessment of what we're truly looking at. I just watched the engine sound video from FOS.. complete with the muffled "banana in the tailpipe" launch at 1:25.. it just doesn't do it for me.

I think if porsche had come out with a special version of a gt3RS at this price.. it would receive a much better reception. exotic high-revving NA engine?... YES, maybe $300k. OR

NA engine with a small hybrid system, as a halo car of what is to come for more plebian 911's in future, then yes that's worth a $300k 911.. this is just plodding along the same well worn turbo path and trying to make it exciting.

I don't think these will sell out, i don't see the waiting lists materialize into sales. Porsche will produce as many as it has orders for and then call it a day while saving face and saying that all sold out.

A single HP for a well equipped $180k .2GT3 is $360
$310 for the base S

whilst for a 300k GT2RS is $430...

just for reference MB GT R is &$308
and a BMW M4 GTS $300
both less rhan a base S....

^ As Pete's graph shows, Porsche seems to price by power to weight and not hp / $. As others have stated, I think this car is priced appropriately given the performance. It's not necessarily what I value in a car, but Porsche made the right business decision. Prior 2RS wasn't that popular either and look at the values now. FYI, GT4 price/ hp is well under $300, but granted no bespoke motor.

I hope those Weissach wheels are offered on the next 3RS. Schmee's video reports that the hood badge is under the clear coat on the hood, nice detail.
