Yeah, here's the worst part... Imagine what kind of a mess PCNA will have on their hands if less than ~297 allocations (the prior approx. # of 918 VIP's that exist today in the US) come to the US.

I've expressed this concern to them a few times.

I wonder if the 918 buyers are guaranteed MSRP on their future purchases, in retrospect it seems like a great way to buy yourself out of the hassles and monkey business in buying acar

Let's not forget the fine print though:

©2012 Porsche Cars North America, Inc. Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA) reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify, or suspend this program and to vary or modify any of thea bove terms and conditions from time to time without prior notice. In case of dispute regarding eligibility or other program terms, PCNA’s decision shall be final and binding. Porsche recommends seat belt usageand observance of all traffic laws at all times

So in short, PCNA can do what they want and PCNA has a new CEO now. Do they care that much if they upset 297 customers? Who knows...

They care.

By the way, I had a conversation last weekend re: the perceived abuses of the 918 VIP allocation program with 918 Concierge
David Donohue at Rennsport V. I'll report on that soon.

****

And to inform the readership in case some of you missed the news yesterday, our friend Detlev von Platen (formerly CEO of PCNA)
has been promoted to head Global Sales & Marketing at PAG and will be based at headquarters in Germany. And Oliver Blume,
formerly head of Production & Logistics at Porsche, has been elevated to CEO of PAG, replacing Matthias Müller who was promoted
to CEO of the VW Group after Martin Winterkorn's resignation last week.

http://www.autonews.com/article/2015...laten-named-vw

Detlev was one happy camper at Rennsport this weekend. He was a dynamic CEO at PCNA and will be missed! But he is headed
for much bigger things at PAG. And it would not be surprising to me if he becomes CEO of PAG in a few years' time!

Eduardo

Based on how badly PCNA handled first the GT3 allocations, then the GT4 and GT3 RS allocations - lets hope he's not the future CEO of PAG...

Maybe some things will improve with the next CEO appointed to PCNA. Maybe, maybe not?

Nate:

a) So you think Detlev & PCNA handled allocations of gt3, RS and
gt4s poorly. What data do we have to support the charge that the
allocation process was mismanaged by Detlev & PCNA? Although
I was critical that Detlev was not able prevent dealers from charging
a markup over MSRP on some desirable gt3 allocations*, I don't
think we have proof of actual malfeasance, or incompetence, on
his part!

b) Surely a better system would have been to allocate more of the
desirable cars to dealers where either you or I had deposits, right?
In my case, I didn't get lucky. In your case, you got a few allocations.
So what is the basis of the particular complaint?

c) Should these nebulous accusations be enough to prevent him from
being considered for promotion to CEO of Porsche at some future date?
Does it also perhaps disqualify him from his new job as PAG's Global
Sales & Marketing head? I don't think so.

Saludos,
Eduardo
Carmel

* I sent Detlev an email re: how a few US dealers (albeit independent
franchised businesses, which they are!) were adding a markup over MSRP
to some of the 30 PTS (Signal Green, Arena Red, Fashion Grey) '15 gt3s,
to which he never responded.

So he is definitely NOT a 'perfect' manager, I'll grant you that!
Who is 'infallible'? Not even this particular pope! But overall Detlev
was a successful & charismatic leader at PCNA during his tenure!

And former sales and marketing boss Bernard Meyer ended up as CEO for Skoda. Hopefully they can sort out this mess sooner rather than later.
Had dinner with Bernard last week before he rushed of to Wolfsburg. Great guy so I wish them all good during these difficult times.

I think they should have a system where you send in a 5k deposit to PCNA and they send you a coupon to take to the dealer of your choice

You mean exactly how VW handled the Golf Rs? Pay your deposit, select your dealer, if you weren't happy you could switch dealers by calling VW.

I canceled mine as I didn't want the car, but got a call from VW to mske sure i wasnt upset with it dealer. Much better way to handle it imo.
