Since we're getting a little OT anyway... I found this cool link to the 2015 Le Mans poster that was being given away by one vendor at RRV. While I unfortunately didn't manage to snag a poster for myself, here's the link to the poster in digital format. The vendor (a dealership selling other merchandise from their booth), gave one out to the first few customers on Fri and Sat. It's a nice door prize for the lucky ones who got one! Anyone here get one?

Guess my eyebrows raised a hair when he said the AMG GT S was the best handling car he has driving considering he gave the RS a crack down.

He was probably able to get an allocation Mercedes likes his money.

I like Randy, but I've driven the AMG GTS and while it's a fun car and very capable, it does not handle better than any 911 variant, particularly a 991 RS.
Anyone who knows cars at all and has driven both, knows the 911 handles better. I've driven an AMG GTS, and its a great car, but I'll take my 991 GT3 over it any day of the week.

There are a few head to head reviews of the AMG GT S vs the 911 GTS or the 911 turbo, and they have similar findings.

Pobst is good but you can only take so much of these journos comments to heart. Especially when the drives are months apart and not back to back in head to head drives. Besides the Merc has nowhere near Motorsports cred or is nearly the looker of an RS. I can't get by the long bonnet..

I agree. It's one of the newest/ugliest cars out there. The hood looks like an airstrip, and the rear end like a 911/928 love child.

True but sound-wise, it is more impressive than what I could hear (or failed to) during RRV with the 991.2 ...

Great point! From what I've read and videos I've seen, definitely not good.

IMO, some of you guys are downplaying Pobst's comments about the GT-S too readily. He's an accomplished pro racer who has as much credibility as any reviewer, and his praise for the GT-S was glowing.

I'm not downplaying it at all and am very aware of his credentials. But watch the his RS review. Nothing but glowing as well. Just saying until there is a head to head it's who camp are you in. I do know that 80 out of 100 would choose the RS. The GT S for sure will have the better looking interior and the edge in sound. For me anyway it's all the motorsports heritage. Like how the GT3 is loosely akin to the RSR that waxed the prototypes at Petit Lemans this past weekend. That's what turns my crank..

Chris Harris really liked the GT-S when he tested it at Laguna Seca earlier this year too.

Mercedes has a top tier motorsports history and current activities are arguably more diverse and higher budget than Porsche. Their contract with Hamilton alone at $140m shows their commitment to motorsports, then add in DTM, V8 Supercars etc and you have them showing up everywhere.

The AMG GT Black Series will be pretty awesome when announced.

You have to give them credit for a brand new model from the ground up. They've done very well from the reviews.

Not my thing, but impressive. Not an easy task for ANY car company.

Not a ground up model, based on an SLS but much cheaper.

I can't fit in an AMG GT with helmet.
