As some of you might know, I'm very excited about the new interior AP is talking about. 525hp is more than enough for me. But less weight and a bit more RS DNA on the inside. Yummy! Can't wait.

A lighter GT3 would be nice. Getting weight out will be expensive.

Agree - I don't think they can get much weight out without a serious price increase.

Well think of it this way. If the regular gt3 had the all cf and magnesium body approach of the RS, but without the huge wheels/tires and bigger turbo body etc, wouldn't that put it pretty close to 3000 lbs when equipped with lwb, pccb, lithium battery etc? If yes, thank 3000 lbs with a 475-500hp+ engine would do the trick quite nicely

question.....when there is discussion of "generation" is that 991 and whatever is next or 991.1 and 991.2 ? Basically, how long do I have to wait for the next "generation"?

The current generation of the 911 is the 991 (the previous one was 997). We've just come to the end of the first iteration which is 991.1. Iteration 991.2 was just introduced a couple of weeks ago at the Frankfurt auto show and will be going on sale in a few months.

I don't think it's known yet what the next generation will be called (maybe 992?). If the timeline follows form it won't show up for another 3 or 4 years.

He actually addressed this and apologies if I misspeak but this is what I heard him say about past GT3's with sunroof.

There is a US safety test for how infants fare in collisions. In the test they apparently fire a ball the approximate size of an infants head and measure the deceleration forces as it strikes various part of the interior.

He said the only way they could get the GT3 to pass this test was to put a sunroof in, something about the give in the roof when struck by the ball. It was too late in the development cycle to get the car approved any other way, so the US, for "safety" reasons got the sunroof.

Why didn't I think of recording it. Here i was typing notes on my phone of the key points. lol. Thanks for doing this.

Also not sure if you recorded this part but at one point I got the impression that he was saying that the car in front of us, was essentially a one off until the next generation. It might be hard to convey in text because part of what I got out of it was body language, the way he pointed or motioned toward the car as he said certain things. I can't remember if he actually used the words "one off"

Anyway I left with the sense that for the 981, the car in front of him was the only car that will be made. They will try and make "some" more, but then that is it.

You can drop 100lbs alone by leaving PDK and RWS off the spec.

But then you'd also be slower.

AP has a wicked sense of humor, LOL...

Wonder why it was possible to order a 997.1 without a sunroof. Guess the plain vanilla 997.1 had an unobtanium roof.

It was PCNA who wanted sunroof's on the 997.1 GT3's, guessing that AP was just poking fun at them indirectly

Just to reiterate, I got my allocation in April this year for Q2 2016 production. From what I understand, that's one of the last quotas available (at least in my area). So the idea of production extending into Spring 2016 shouldn't really come as a surprise, and probably doesn't mean there is an increased production since April this year.

Are you in the US? If not, where?
