Hi Mike,

Here's what I've found out...

Your PTS 253 Light Green is locked into your configuration. From July 6th, onward, there is a PTS order stop with the exception of Black, Racing Yellow, and {he typed Miami, but must be Maritime} Blue. Since we were before that, we're not affected other than the expected delay.

The latest Order Option Update from Porsche says there's a 5 month delay from allocation month. Your car is an October allocation. Simple math says we'll see your car April-ish 2016 but as of right now should be built and painted to your spec.
Hi Mike, can you ask your dealer to offer confirmation or any details about this "Miami" blue please? Thanks!

Default Reports coming in...

My sources in Europe are reporting to me via email. Supposedly the new Porsche 'Miami Blue' is closer to an older VW color called 'Taubenblau', which has been also called 'Dove Blue'. My source is telling me that the "best way to describe the colour would be blue with a lot of grey!"

Googles comes up with a few VW examples (VW color L31)... take your pick! At least it gives you an idea of the possible new color Porsche has in mind for us!

************

Also, on the question of these three additional colors for the 991 gt3 RS, Porsche will categorize 'Black', 'Racing Yellow' & 'Miami Blue' as 'Special Color' (Sonderfarben) and limit the cost of them to the normal US $3,140. So these are not going to be considered PTS nor will they be priced accordingly at US$5500!

***********

Finally, our source reports that "the PTS building dates will go on into spring and to the end of production sheduled to April May 2016. At the moment Ultraviolet is only planed until November 2015 built."

I thank our European friend for that 'news flash'!

Saludos,
Eduardo

That was fast, Eduardo!!!

FWIW, if anyone is seriously interested in this colour, below is the (Glasurit http://www.glasurit.com/uk/glasurit-color-online) paint formula; you can paint a sample for yourself to see it in real life. If anyone does this, please post a photo or two!

I was told the same regarding the racing yellow, black, and Miami Blue being the 3 approved paint to sample colours for the RS. I was told they would be the PTS price not the special paint price. These colours shouldn't delay a build but if you have another allocated PTS colour it may be several months delayed. If you don't already have an allocated PTS build you may not get it as the factory is apparently overwhelmed with these right now.

I was also told that the next round of allocations (likely Jan to Mar production) hasn't been released yet and no one knows when they will be. I'm sure some VP of Production in Germany knows but he's not saying.

I had a pint of the Miami Blue (M5C) paint mixed up. Usual disclaimers. This is a small batch ppg envirobase paint so shades may vary. It doesn't photograph exactly like it looks. It looks a bit brighter blue. More like the second VW bus. Reminds me of the GB configurer while the PTS blue colour was working. I'm not sure why they see this as an RS colour when they could have picked one of the greens or voodoo blue.

Beautiful. Blue with warmth, not smurfy, classic and not too retro-vintage.

Looks like is perhaps a 2 shade spread from Glacier Blue (another original '73 RS color), perhaps the special color on the incoming RS 4.1/4.2?

Not the best picts, but give you an idea.

I couldn't resist and had to have these 4 PTS samples made for me.

Let the guessing games begin
