Bummer! Probably wishful thinking to think they might've improved it on the GT4 - probably identical...

Since it uses the same brakes and same front suspension, I'd assume so. The rears are better, but not by a lot.

Do you guys think this is enough pad left for one more track day, or should I call it quits on this? There are 8 track days on these

if it's sonoma/TH and < 200 miles on track, you are good to go
if it's LS, you will have close encounter with the entry wall at T2

Thill, maybe 150 miles at most. Will keep a close eye. I could always switch to OEM pads, which have like 10 miles on them. I really really hate changing pads on this car.

Looks thin to me. I wouldn't want to be beating myself up after a mishap due to starting the day with a marginal set of pads.

Those pads are fine for more than a day. I run them down way thinner than those. But I do bring 1-2 extra sets to the track and check after most sessions.

Vet, I'm counting on you to be right. Lol.

The problem is that there's no way in hell I'd be able to pull off a pad swap on track in a reasonable amount of time with this car. This is from a guy that timed a full brake change on all 4 corners from start to finish in 20 minutes on other cars.

Ok, what was the entry fee for this session? the last thing I want is to be sitting on the sidelines watching my buddies go round and round. Let's see, track fee 300.00, gas to and fro 100.00 hotel if you need one 100.00. Exactly how much did you pay to play this day and its gone over a couple of brake pads....

Good point, and you may have to change pads at the end or beginning of the day if you don't want to miss track time (I know I'd be frustrated if I missed track time because it took too long to change pads between sessions). Your current pads look like they should last at least 1 day though.

Just remember (as you already know I'm sure ) they will wear unevenly. Generally speaking the outer pad wears faster and the bottom portion (as they sit in the caliper) will wear faster for fronts and top portion wears faster for rears.

But I hate changing these damn pads!! Lol!
If I switch to OEM up front, I wonder if I'll screw up the brake bias. Now I'm killing myself to change all 4 corners. I'm going to be testing some new brake pads for RB, but they won't be ready for another 3 weeks and my track day is next Friday.... If only I had open top calipers. Life would be perfect. Lol

You bring up a very valid point and I don't disagree for the general public. However, I can say from experience (though not in a 991 GT3) that Joe's pads should last a while. Depends on track time per day and the particular track, but I've run pads like Joe's an entire weekend (3 days) or more. Or almost a full day of open track (4.5 hours of driving). But maybe 991 GT3s chew through pads quicker so I can't say for sure.

I know "they" all tell you to change when the pad thickness is same as the backing plate. This is fine and good advice for the general trackie who rarely - if ever - checks brake pads over the entire event, but I can tell you from experience that you can run them for much longer AS LONG AS you're willing to watch +/- change them like a hawk after each session.

Just FYI....
