Well these pictures have finished me, taking delivery next week of my GT3, deposit is down for the RS and getting ready for the GT3 class at the porsche driving school. Looks like no retirement for me!

No doubt, and that excitement level will be there even for some (not you Alex) for whom an "auto" gearbox, non-Mezger motor, RWS, "electric" steering, center console, CL's, etc. were anathema when the 991 GT3 was first announced. Amazing what changes in attitude a few HP, a big *** wing, and a little time can bring about....

I am excited. Very much so. Like any car, its a choice and there are those who for their own very good reasons will not like this car. For me, I have no hesitation. I cannot wait to get my hands on it.

If the RS comes with a 4.0 engine and the next generation GT3/RS becomes hybrid or turbo charged, it will become an instant collector car. Today, I heard from my SA that the 2 people ahead of me on the list may not take the car if the rumored price range is true. Now that is just music to my ears.

I'm right behind you, but only if the $$$ delta from my 997.2 RS is small enough. For example, I wouldn't drop $75k to upgrade, but I might consider it if it were $25-35k. Otherwise, we'll see about a 991.2

It may be wishful thinking, but if 997.2 RS are selling in the $150-155 range and the new car is $180 then... I also think that if PCCB are not standard on the new car, it might come in cheaper than rumored.

It really depends on what happens to the 997.2 RS market once the new car is officially unveiled. Prices may drop like stones, stay stable, or continue to climb (making it even easier to trade up).

Looks like the RS will be amazing but how many of them will be seriously tracked at $200k a pop and $3500 for a set of tires ?

unless your rs is pts and less than 10k miles, you wont get 150 for it. 135 on a lucky day.
will drop but stablize a bit after that. simple due to cost differential b/n 991 and 997

No doubt it will have the biggest performance gulf but it will also have the biggest price gulf by a factor of 2 so we'll have to see how it all plays out.

Tim's point is still well taken, IMO; regardless of the comparison to the RS, when matched up to loaded Carrera's, the GT3 is a bargain.
GT3/RS had always been bargains in COMPARISON to non GT cars. but i understand that for some, non GT make more sense for their needs..

with regard to options, i am not as hardcore as nizer. i need AC. but i dont care about the led light ( i barely see thign in day light, at night, i dont drive since i see as clearly as stevie wonder). PTS, stitching, stereo, gps, lift.... no interest to me. small lithium battery meh. i like the big heavy battery that cranks up all the time. maybe i shoot for the cheapest RS sold in usa.

Taking another shot at Mezger fans, eh Mike? I call that bold talk for a one-eyed man

Interesting. My lithium battery was way stronger than stock battery in terms of cranking power.

Hoping they go as extreme on the interior as it appears they've done on the exterior. No need to have all the heavy gauges when a simple Motec display on carbon panel will give you 5x the information. Simple nylon door pulls to replace armrests. And yeah, would be most pleased if they binned the Panamera console.

But doubt it will happen; hard to interest most buyers in something that raw. I'll just be happy if they leave the roll bar mounting plates in for US cars.

and now the 997 RS prices come back to earth....

have to say, this new RS does look awesome, and the performance is going to be insane, but will never get over the fact it uses DUB 20" wheels, and PDKrap.

I'm completely happy with my old school, slow, 6spd 997 RS and E92 M3.
