Consolidated 991RS thread

Agreed, on both points. Mostly.
It's really critical that Porsche prices it appropriately. I don't fully agree that even if it's 180k plus that it'll be fine. If they price it too high, it will take a dramatically larger depreciation hit. The hit will be softened by interest (i.e., how much people like the car), of course, but it won't be quite the same as the 997.2 GT3 RS 4.0, which was priced awesomely, to be honest.
The key is to leave enough room for people to option out their cars, and not break $200k too severely. Yes, RS 4.0's were $180k - $210k...

What do you think about the price point compared to the 991 Turbo (S)? How was this in the past?
Do you think it will be suddenly more expensive like the 991 compared to the 997 Turbo (S)?

All new models get released to German customers first so you will have to be patient but don't worry they'll be happy to take your dollars when it's your turn
.
Is that a raised body panel running down the middle of the hood and roof in the first picture or just a reflection?
The dual air inlet on the RS will be part of its signature look. I could easily see the stylists taking a page from the RSR and covering those different shaped inlets with the same mesh as that covering the front radiators. They will sell every last one of these.

Hearing the RS should arrive Q1 2015. Comes from a good source. Just a FYI. Delay due to obvious reasons. Like many am trying to decide do I wait for it or take my Q3 GT3 build when the build slot comes up? If in the $180k neighborhood would likely pass anyway.

Does anyone think the facelift will be pushed back? Seems like the RS will become available very close to the 991.2 release, which totally stinks to drop that much money for an 'old' model...

GT3 RS 4.0 overlapped with first 991s....did not seem to harm its residuals....

I'm in a similar situation as you. The RS needs to be quite different to justify a 50k bump. With options, the car will be 200k+ putting it into exotic territory. I'm waiting to see what they announce with the RS before deciding. I'm next on the GT3 list and #2 on the RS list.

Damn 33 pages, as of 3/30...
PCCB Should be an option, Center Locks too.
0 performance options - sportchrono is not a sport option.
Preconfigured for rollcage, mounting points and such.
Front lift standard,.period. You make a car that sits that low, well dammit, you better make sure you can drive it up into your garage.
Hope PAG is listening...

How do we know these are photos of the next 3RS? Could we perhaps be looking at a "Red Herring"? Were the photos officially released from Porsche as the next 3RS. The next iteration better be bakeing up 500+ BHP just to stay competitive with other offerings; but by that same token it has never been about continuously building more powerful engines. And over the years and continued improvement that has happened. But it's more about getting the power to the ground with as little loss as possible through the running gear. When I do the math it seems that out of most other car
Could it perhaps be, say, a new GT2? For some reason the side vents on the RS don't Jive with me unless Porsche is truly going forced induction for so much "Reliable Power". I just cannot see Porsche up the power on an NA engine without invcreasin displacsment at the same time. And even at that what are we looking at 4.0 - 4.2(maybe), and that is a huge maybe. I just can't see it in their design philosophy, just to continously increase displacement.

It's almost free for them to increase displacement (within the parameters designed into the new 9A1 platform) and it is very expensive to lose 500 pounds of weight.

My dealer principle just got back from the big powwow in Barcelona last week and the word is the RS will b released in September 2014. That's all I got; no specs...
Told my SA that as compensation for my GT3 delay, I'll take an RS at the 2014 GT3 price. He said he'll get right on that![cherrsagai](https://rennlist.com/forums/graemlins/drink.gif)
