I think the 991 GT3 and the 991 GT3 RS will start being worlds apart just as most have conveyed the 991 GT3 is worlds apart for the 991 C2S. I think the gaps are widening, which is good for all of u,s and so will the prices(not so good). The 991 GT3 is a hardcore road car that can be tracked. I think we will RS version will be a hardcore track car that can be driven on the roads.

Definitely agree with that! Loaded C2S is a terrible deal when many approach the cost of GT3. That said, I would still put my money on the RS in terms of financial performance (as well as track). I also agree that GT3 doesn't need options either (aside from a couple delete options that I wish were available).

^ It does not need but most of us want. I wanted the performance of the GT3 with some of the bells and whistles you can load on a C2S. I am glad they gave enough options to do so because my car will be used strictly for the street. I love the red stitching, carbon fiber, heated seats to keep my butt warm ect. None of this is essential but love that it could be managed. I like that they made the 991 GT3 more convenient but not softer if that makes any sense. That is why the GT3 RS would not be ideal for me and I am willing to admit it

That's exactly the way they marketed the 997 GT3RS.

The spring rates will largely tell us what they intend. They will need to be up due to the downforce, the question is how far?

When Porsche build a true track car they tend to be insanely stiff- the 993 GT2 for example ran essentially RSR spring rates- 5 times stiffer than the street going 993 RS. It's still usable on the street, but it's so stiff that it does slow you down over normal roads. I doubt we'll see anything nearly that extreme here, but I'm interested to see what balance they strike. I might guesstimate more like 50% stiffer, mainly to maintain ride height under the new aero loads at high speed on the autobahn. If the spring rates are up much more than that I'd think they'd be sacrificing performance on the street in favor of performance on the track, something they have previously tried to avoid...

If the pics/renders above are real - and they put it on RSR-style rims & CL's - resistance will be futile. My key remaining point of interest would be what engine is in it (this is by no means a reference to any previous issues).

I'd be surprised if 918 seats are not stock given RS intent, past history, and the alternative. Agree no contest on resale; proven time and again.

Steel brakes and bucket seat will standard (ROW) markets Im fairly certain.

Agree with Peterv that spring rates will be substantially higher to counter much stronger downforce aero over 991 GT3. This car will not be any fun on our small and debris littered B roads in NZ (and I assume UK similar). Good for wide smooth European roads tho.

The pictures posted are identical to the model. What you are seeing is the real deal. Im not convinced with the car on asthetic grounds (too busy with detail, the rear hips are very fat but flat not curved and the aero with the slats in the front fenders etc its bordering on cartoonish - with the longer/lower nose being a real liability for any form of fast back road bumpy driving). For teh track Im sure it will be killer. I still have an early allocation and although Ive always been 95% certain it isnt for me I will wait to see real life pictures before making a final call...Im sure it will look better in the flesh than pictures too...

Any ideas how much the AC and radia0 (I assume with speakers) weighed in the 997 RS?

Personally I'm counting myself lucky that a manual isn't being offered. I like the hardcore bent it's taking otherwise, regardless of the flashy styling. If it came with a manual option I'd be in trouble...

Too bad about Eddie. I had my dealings with him but always came out whole in the end, albeit after a lot of unnecessary delays, etc. Think he was just in waaay over his head.
