Historically they should introduce the GT2RS now, numbered to 500 cars.
In 2017 the 991.2 GT3 and GT3RS will arrive followed by a 991.2 4.2L 2018 with a 6 speed manual option numbered to 600 cars just before the 992 arrives.

So that ^^ should be the GT2RS.

Could be the way it plays out - but I think they'll number the GT3 RS N/A Swan song to 1580 cars to honor the original '73 RS with likely the same decal package - it gets through the 918 VIP customers with 662 for us commoners.

Default Has the PTS window on the '16 991 gt3 RS just closed?

We have been reporting at the PTS reference thread for the past couple of days now various reports & rumors re: the closing of the PTS window on the 991 gt3 RS (& perhaps all MY2016 991/981) due to high demand for that option. Production schedules of approved PTS orders seem to be going forward into late fall/early winter (calendar year 2015), but details are still sketchy as to final PTS production dates.

The reports start with post # 411 on July 7th:
https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3/...gt3-rs-28.html

Here is the latest one I received via Rennlist-related email and posted this morning at the thread above. It is reproduced here your information without further comment other than clarifications in red:

"Hello Eduardo

I'm from Switzerland and a Porsche Fanatic and PTS Lover long time ago.

I'm 38 years old and have some special PTS cars in my collection.

I just wanted to inform you, that the PTS window for the 991 GT3 RS is closed since 6.7.2015 (I think this means July 6th).
The same day I was with Porsche Exclusive in Zuffenhausen, and wanted to see some details. Today PAG informed with an
email all the Swiss Porsche Dealers that PTS is no longer available on the 991 GT3 RS because of demand.

To my understanding all the orders that aren't secu(r)ed yet will not pass.

Lets cross fingers for the ones who still waiting for a confirmation.

By the way I will get a viper green 991 RS (Status is V200).

Please spread the info. You are our PTS guy."

If you have any confirmation or further information on this subject, please post here and/or the reference PTS thread if possible. Thank you. I am scheduled to have a meeting with executives at 'Porsche Exclusive' in Zuffenhausen on Friday, July 17th which hopefully will shed further light on the topic. But hopefully we will have a clearer picture of what is going on BEFORE that date.

Saludos,
Eduardo

I haven't heard anything more about PTS in Europe. But visited my dealer in Sweden a couple of weeks back to look at some colors and they informed me that UV is definitely coming to an end in November.
Hopefully they can find a way to sort this PTS thing out. It really brings another dimension to these cars with PTS, and I really appreciate all the info you post here.
Color is fun.

They also could just be engineering body aero changes, suspension, etc. and not the engine using current GT3RS mule to help engineering changes. I suspect that is the most likely scenario. It is common for car companies to use a current production mule for changes in model with the same basic platform making slight changes going from a known platform and judging the effect of those changes to known parameters.

This was my thought as well - looks more like data collection than anything else.

BINGO, While far from final specs or approval at this point....High probability this is GT3RS with early prototype spec GT2RS engine (and other rear mods) installed.
