Just kidding. But it's true that of the high school maths, the only one I understood & liked was Geometry. Algebra I & II were tough & unappealing. And Trigonometry...fuhgeddaboudit!

Not wanting to stir a hornets nest here but:

1). Max Piston speed is the same for RS & GT3 as I understand it. Petervb did the calcs. I trust him. BHP per Litre is the same too.

2). Has anyone seen footage of the tach needle swinging past 8600 rpm on a RS video? Its a genuine question. I see they have dotted the tacho in red from 8400-8800 (not seen that before on a 911 tach - what does it mean) and Ive been told it will redline 8600 and only 8800 in manual? Ive looked online and all the footage with sport Auto I see show 8600 between shifts. It may just be PDK program for gearing thing. Genuine question by the way. Im curious.

I've seen a video or two showing it hitting 8800...

I've seen too many to go through and find them but I know I've seen a few showing it hitting 8800. And if all these guys driving it for reviews saw it shifting only at 8600 EVERYONE would be talking about it. They already all mention the 8800 limiter versus 9k in the GT3. The first guy to drive one and not have it hit 8800 would be blowing up the internet and complaining about that.

Most of the reviews so far were at the invitation from Porsche. I doubt they'd complain much.

Have you seen the owners manual yet? Im curious about the dashes leading up to teh solid red band at 8800. Ive been told the engine may be rev/torque limited to 8600 in certain gears. Only issue was a translation one so I am unsure if the employee telling me this meant its related to teh gear its in or the gear shift type (i.e. manual vs PDK etc). I got online trying to fine footage of it hitting redline 8800. The only footage I found was Porsche footage driven in manual so i was wondering if it will short shift in sport auto but manual mode allows it to go the full 8800. Or maybe its all BS as Im 50% undecided. The source was factory but the conversation was via an intermediary and lends me to believe its not correct.

Be interested in other peoples view on the dash dash dash at 100 rpm increments from 8400 to 8800. They are there for a reason. Why would that be?

Watch it again in slow mo.

If you watch the clip repeatedly you will note it revs up to only 8600 rpm approx. The red dashes start after the second yellow one (200rpm increment) and start marking 100 rpm increment. The actual 9000 point is quite a long way below if you look past the reflections. Also its not a dead ahead shot (or has wide angle lens)_ so its a bit distorted but I think fairly representative. I reviewed a few like this on first glance look like 8800 but I haven't yet found one that goes above 8600 in auto mode (same mode used for this clip although Christians track driving was done in manual).

I wonder if the engine really runs to 8800 in PDK sportAuto?

The above clip is the needle at maximum point in the footage.

Dont get me wrong. Im not saying PAG are lying Im led to believe the PDK has been programmed to max shift/redline at 8600 in auto. It would also explain the dashes of red before the solid band at 8800.

I have indeed seen it shift on one video to 8800 in manual.

Im may be mistaken but have not yet found evidence of it going to 8800 in PDK-SA but Im pretty sure someone here can dig up a clip that enlightens us.

I still dont know why the dashes from 8600-8800 with 100 rpm increments vs usual yellow 200rpm bars?

It looks to me like it shifts at 8600 in auto as well. It wouldn't surprise me if they have a hard and soft rev limit on the car with the soft in auto and the hard in manual.

Watch the evo review at 3:30 it looks to go higher than 8600 though.

9k sound you have it or you do not have it
and apart in lagos indeed is not related to piston speed
but rpm
