The air exiting those vents changes the overall aerodynamics towards back of car, in comparision to normal GT3. There are a lot of factors at play besides just the fender vents but the engineers can do a lot with that particular airflow. If they can manipulate where that air ends up it makes the entire car more efficient which they have done on RS.

AP is a really really really really good spokesman, err salesman. Actually I thought he did a convincing job of talking up the car. I'm really quite intrigued by his description of the aero (compared to RS 4.0) and weight redistribution (new Mg construction, etc). Good job AP and PAG! Stiff competition for COTY in the form of 675 LT etc, so I'm curious to see these reviewed on the road and track. Wow, what a great showing at Geneva. Wish I was there!

I think it's just marketing talk, just as a few other bits and pieces in that interview. Maybe it makes more power,so why hold it back? As soon as someone takes delivery they can take it to a Dyno and verify. And BTW,you can shove as much air as you'd like thru those openings using high powered fans, even at standstill.

Porsche has always had a policy on conservative HP numbers....not to long ago some were saying normal GT3 was making close to 500hp. Unfortunately I have not seen any verification of that but it feels strong but I believe it's mostly due to gearing. Yes you could force air while standing still but why? It would be loud as hell and do little to improve acceleration without finding more grip?

In the spirit of TopGear- "Some say" driveline losses in these 911's are less.

Because you said it makes that mysterious more power going at speed and with the help of extra air coming in...

..
Is the 1420kg number representative of lightest spec or not? We don't know but it's a big potential swing factor.

Using noted and/or approx weight savings:
Lion Battery: -30lb
PCCB: -40lb
A/C delete: -35lb
Radio Delete: -7lb

That's an additional 110ish lbs that could be taken out of the car if not included in the 3,124lb (1420kg). But I suspect some if not all is already included in quoted weight.

This is the configurator that you come to in Europe if there is no localized configurator.

Not sure if it is the same as the US or not:

The front fender sir vents play a critical roll in down force and works in conjunction with the rear wing. I saw an interview this morning about it- very functional

Don't quote me, this is just an opinion based on previous knowledge.
2:05 on a 997.2 cup.2 is attainable, 997.1 cup is 5 sec slower at sebring
IDK what the 996 cup time at sebring is, given the time of the 991 gt3, I bet that in the hands of a pro a 991 RS will leave it behind at sebring lap after lap. Must be Lava Orange though
