If you don't know the exact weight specs, that's OK. I'll settle for a well informed estimate.
Numbers for 997 GT3/RS:

A/C Delete: 37lb
Radio Delete: 6.6lb
Polycarbonate Window: 8.8lb

PCM insignificant.

My source said only one thing when I asked last night. He said "they changed it later". The indication reading between the lines was post 991 engine recall.
Suggests this motor is fairly stressed. Unlikely a concern for target customer most of whom will never really stress the thing for extended periods day in and day out, but probably a contributing factor in why we haven't seen it in the spec Cup.

So will your street GT3 if you run it like a Cup.

Most of this is down to slicks, support, and transport, not from fundamental differences in the cars (excluding sequential box in 997 Cup).

- much more difficult to sell than a road car

Race cars are like getting married: very expensive to get out of one!
Never had an issue selling a race car or a street car.

all RACING eventually cost the same. you pay now or you pay later. you pay, pay and pay more.

but it is some of the best fun you will ever have clothes on or off.

i say just buy one, flog it for 2-3 years. pretend you bought citibank stocks in a few years back and write it off. most fun way to burn money.
Fixed it for you. It's not the car that costs more, it's how you use it. Otherwise, I agree with above.

The data I've seen suggests that a 991 GT3 on slicks (and aligned for them) will be as fast or a little faster than a 996 cup on slicks.

Glad he could help! He's really good at presenting the car and once again he's done it!
The spaceship technology was the best bid! It sent shivers down my spine.

Great presentation by AP. This car will deliver the goods. With those wide tires and all that downforce it will be glued to the ground! Can't wait to drive it!

For all of you disappointed by color options and possibly looking for PTS, I have asked my dealer to inquire about availability and timing. I should have an answer by Friday when I go in to sign the contract.

In the meantime, something to think about is to get the car in a standard color and have it wrapped. Cheaper. More versatile. And something many would do anyway in clear just to protect the investment.

I know that the Porsche factory is not allowing the clubsport for the US but will the dealers be able to install it after we have the car. It would be pretty weird to not be allowed to put a role cage in a track car.

It wouldn't keep up with a 997 cup for half a lap.
Is that a fact or just a guess?

I would not expect it to keep up with the 997 cup. I drive at Sebring quite a bit and the pros are able to get the cup times down to around 2:05. The 991 gt3 are 11 seconds slower easily and I'm guessing the gt3 rs will be around 7-8 seconds slower.

Don't quote me, this is just an opinion based on previous knowledge.

While I have nothing against wrapping a car, to do it right (many don't) it can cost a 1/3 to 1/2 the price of PTS.....and in my opinion it doesn't substitute PTS program at all other than sampling a special color you don't really permenantly have. I think wrapping a car is for those that really want the standard colors available and want to change for a year or two then know they can get back to actual color or change it up again but then again I have never wrapped a car so what do I know?
