Yes me too...I'm holding out until the 2015 models. Also with the state of the economy and work it's better that I don't stretch and push it to get a 991 GT3 right now anyway.

I am hoping they will fase in the seats during first half of 2014 since the 918 will be introduced in September with deliveries starting the end of the year

From what I heard today the harness seats for the 991 will be after 918 deliveries. Those start in late December2013 till?.....Then Porsche will be able to go through the process to get the seats approved for 991. I think maybe end of 2014 early 2015 is what it will be from my source and the way they talked but there was no hard firm date.

Also a lot of people on this thread were saying the seats where not approved because Porsche couldn't crash test a new 991 GT3. That is not exactly the reason. Porsche could crash test a regular 991 to approve the seats.
They have had plenty of time to do that to bring them out for 991 cars including a new 991 GT3. These seats for the USA are just not a priority for Porsche...which to me is very sad Porsche feels this way about the USA market.

Really a shame because I was looking forward puttiing the GT3 through its paces
For me it also depends on when I have sold my BMW track rat and CTTS in order to move on to something else
Thx for the info

Just got a call from my dealer who is at the Sebring race and he got to spend some time with some Porsche people talking about the 991 GT3. He brought up the seat issue and they said they are aware of this issue but the new Sport Seats for the 991 being sold elsewhere in the world have different air bags and electronics and Porsche did not get them certified for the USA market.
The USA sport bucket seats will be available for the USA after the 918 is delivered as those seats, bags, electronics wil be certified for the USA. This will be available for 2015 991 models.

Totally agree with you, they should have crash tested years ago, now it is an afterthought it seems, again I am proberbly not going to wait 2 years to be able to spec a 991 with the new buckets, I"ll proberbly will look at other brands that offer what I am looking for

The brief look I saw of pictures of the 918 seats, indicated they might be bulkier than the current Sport Buckets and therefore heavier. Besides support and the ability to use harnesses with the current Sport Buckets, they are the lightest seats Porsche makes.

Also I was told that PCCB rotors and calipers for the 991GT3 are different and from the 918 and are better suited for track use.

Bingo! Told you so. Only made sense. Not available until those seats are in production and released with the 918 first. They look fantastic and will be worth the wait. Timing wise I'm sure they will come std on new RS, which is where they will make their debut on the rest of the 991 option list.

So let me get this straight: Mdrums gets report from an unnamed 'dealer', visiting Sebring and spending time with unnamed 'Porsche people' who are talking about the 991 gt3, who tells him/her that the 918 sport bucket seats will be available for MY2015 991 models. And without any further proof, corroboration or confirmation, we are off and running with this story as the definitive gospel?
Color me 'dubious', in a nice shade of 'chartreuse'!

Oh, I will make you say it so many more times, Montoya, that it will cease to be funny. Count on it!

C'mon Eduardo, this is the internet, where rumors become facts if you have enough postings! Heck, Mdrums interview with PCNA is way more than the usual spectulation that passes for fact. But let's all not take ourselves too seriously, this is all for fun.... right???

Look at it this way: As long as we get some sort of light-weight 'sport bucket seats' offered as an option in our market for the 991's & 981's, we are ALL winners!
The jury is still out, however, as to WHY Porsche & PCNA decided NOT to certify & offer at 'Sport Bucket Seat' option on the US 991 gt3 in MY2014! It should make us wonder!

I'm just reporting what my dealer told me. He is on these forums from time to time and a total track rat. He took the time to ask the questions and let me know what Porsche said.
Like all news with Porsche we will only know when we see what seats if any they use a few years down the road.
