MAJOR FAIL! No Sport Bucket Set Option (6 point harness seats) WOW!
I am so disappointed...MAJOR FAIL FROM PORSCHE for not offering the Sport Bucket seats on a track orientated car!
AP claims the 991 GT3 is track orientated but yet leave out the #1 part of a real track orientated car and a major safety part of the car on the track. Geesh real stupid move AP and Porsche.
My local dealer put in a order for a 991 GT3 for me...no obligation. I just told him to forget it and remove me from the list due to not having these seats which on the track even at my level are an absolute must have.
I can't put aftermarket seats in the car and delete the side impact air bag system because with insurance company's that is considered as tampering with a federally mandated car safety system. If I was to get in an accident on the street my insurance would be VOID.

Makes ZERO sence!!! Porsche makes the 991 GT3 out like its for weekends at the track in all of the video's but leaves these very important seats out.
The new Corvette has a seat option for 6 point harness plus Corvette is putting on a day at Sebring to show the car....hummmm?
For now I will keep my GTS Porsche but I will NOT get a 991GT3... I totally lost interest.

Wow.
Well...once again, more evidence that through "focus groups" and other nonsensical tools, Porsche may have come to the conclusion that its primary GT3 customer base consists of cars & coffee poofs.
Sad...

PCNA is American and I trust their American lawyers freak every time a new video of wheels flying off or coolant hoses letting go shows up on the net. Watching the launch videos and listening to Preuninger go on about tracking must leave them sleepless.
What better way to discourage track use then to systematically make it more painful for anyone to take one on the track? Voided warranty, no rollbar mounting plates, no six-point harness option, no track-oriented seats, etc. I get the message: PCNA wants you to buy this car as a cars and coffee toy.
Maybe, maybe if we're really lucky, the RS will put some of the stuff back that track guys need - Sport Buckets, rollbar mounting plates, 5-lugs - but I'm not holding my breath.

Epic logic fail.
Porsche thinks very little of US drivers, I dont see why so many have their Porsche blinders on still. They sent us a 997.1 GT3 with no sunroof delete. Slap in the face. Sent us a 997.1 RS with no performance gain but bright colors and stickers and a lwfw. Body slam. Phoney gimmick center locks. Suplex.
The US is their biggest market so they are building a car they think most Americans want, comfy, safe feeling and will cover any mistakes they make on their way to barnes and noble. Maybe a 0-60 blast from a stoplight is the most they will drive the car.
This is a Volkswagen GT3. Porsche going the way of BMW.

I think the competition corvette seat has a recline function while the porsche sport bucket is fixed back. But still, the comp corvette seat is better than anything offered for the gt3.

I don't think there is any mystery here. New GT3 is just an upgraded Carrera S with a upgraded Carrera S 9A1 engine and upgraded Carrera S PDK. Since it no longer has anything in common with the race cars, why does it need race oriented seats? It is not just the seats that are a fail, it is the entire car.
Why would a reclining race seat be a positive? With any reclinable seat there is potential for the recline mechanism to fail in an accident. If I am looking for a race oriented seat for the track, I want it fixed or use a seat back brace.
