leather weighs more if you care about hard core track
#8027
If you really were that concerned about hard core tracking it probably wouldn’t matter what options you got except for the sport buckets which that car didn’t have. Personally I wouldn’t buy one without full leather. It not only changes the dash but also the door panels. I don’t like the look of the standard rubber. And a PTS Touring may not be that important for someone who was interested in that.

If you care about hard core track to the point where you're choosing against leather for the weight, you're not ordering a PTS Touring with sofas.
The spec is weird - it's a stripped out car with PTS which doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I think the lack of PCCBs is a big oversight here, iron brakes on a PTS Touring just looks wrong to me.
Original MSRP is ~$172k. Car sold at ~$41k over sticker which probably benefits from a PTS bump. Of course, there are cars with CPO and that gives a bump to value as well. Not to mention LWBs. IMO, PTS, LWBs, CPO, PCCBs and arguably full PPF are value added features.
Either way, the car is a future classic, so I doubt values will ever really tank on them.

Whoever posted that the dealer(s) they talk to about trade in values who indicated $2-3k over MSRP for a Touring with sub-5k miles should probably post the name of their dealer so everyone knows where to not waste time. Even with tax credit in highest tax states, that's robbery.
On the BAT touring sold, I also agree that full leather dash is near the bottom of things I'd care about. I thought the blue car sold yesterday is what most buyers are looking for, though for me, I do think PCCB's are a dealer breaker (everyone's got their thing i guess).

My top must haves are manual, FAL and buckets…followed by a strong preference for PCCBs. Obviously color typically would be high on the list too. I really wanted silver headlights too which is a quirky, personal, one.

Absolutely. That post with dealer trade-ins was nonsense.

PCCB, LWB...and no FAL. They even paid extra for black wheels, upgraded pedals, white gauges and passed on FAL.
Might be the only Touring ever with that configuration. Talk about weird.

My only must have is Manual… I prefer buckets, but they can be added after the fact. The rest is kind of moot.
The rubber dash doesn’t bother me, I’ve had Porsches with and without. It’s different for better or worse. I have great memories years ago blasting out of nyc with an Italian Deli sandwhich in hand with not a care in the world (in my rubber dash car). Now my car has leather and I’m much more careful about it.
I like to run 19s so PCCBs we’re a no.

Also, for years I've been saying that 911 GT cars are made for the track, not really suited to being fun road cars. Well, I was wrong. This RS is fun to drive at all speeds on the road, with all the upsides of feeling like a cup car with not much of the downsides (ride is a bit harsh on bad roads, but same with other Porsches, this RS isn't a lot worse). This RS is a MUCH better car than the 991.1 GT3 I traded in.
