your mb worths more. I bet they'd ask around 275 at least. There's barely any MB rs for sale & it's basically as close to pts as you can get for these 991.2 3rs

None taken. Its not ignorant though to suggest someone avoid paying interest on a depreciating asset...and I made the same point you did in my post about use of money when interest rates were low. My experience though is that margin you suggest can get a little tight even in the best of times assuming there is tax exposure on the investment. To use your example, you are in effect starting 3-4% in the hole on that investment. Cheers

Maybe I am naive, old school and very blessed but using credit for this type of purchase has always seemed nuts to me. I sleep very well at night using very cheap money for toy acquisiton. Not everyone does, obviously. Patience is understandable, but honestly for those who do have the cash for this kind of purchase (which should be a scintilla of their net worth) I like smart leverage independent of the % of my net worth that the toy in question represents. , patience is not really required when you are talking about a measly $50K differential. $120k in the case of my recent GT3 purchase. Sorry but that is just my opinion. Old white guy rant over. Old(er) white guy here too. Carry on.

Agree.

Also headlights are a big WTF. And red/orange stitching is kinda gaudy IMO.

I do wish I spec'd WP though. I was on the fence with it when I ordered. I didn't feel like paying $20K for exposed carbon. But after seeing other cars with it in person, I wish I had.

With the lack of RS allocations for 2023, wonder if this changes the calculus on non 992RS prices? What do you guys think?

Have similar conversations with my pragmatic self, but then I fast forward to the obsessed driver with empty garage space(s) and do nothing. The problem with moving on from 991.2 is, what to replace with?

For me it would mean abandonment of this price tier entirely. Would probably grab an E46 track spec and a hot hatch, or something...

I hear ya. I would probably go with a much cheaper car too. Maybe an M2 or who knows. I do a lot of other activities that feed my adrenaline itch though: rock climbing, snwoboarding (heli boarding and backcountry), etc. So I weigh a fun weekend drive or track day every now and then against funding 4-8 weeks of heli boarding each season for like... 6 years.

We have a couple addictions in common...

I assume your last sentence is weighing the price of a GT3 versus the cost of many weeks heli-boarding?

At one point my only life goal was to be a liftie at Squaw Valley, RS to heli boarding math checks out for me.

You can definitely do better than 230k. I'd get at least a few more yrs of heli boarding out of it if you decide to move on near-term.

I've got 4 heli trips booked for this season so far. I'm stoked!
