The fashion gray gt3 auction on BaT is a great example of prices being influenced by shill bidders. The first bid is $150k from someone who has bid about 1 time in over 15 auctions. In fact, he comments in another auction that he owns a 991.2 chalk gt3. So what exactly is the reason he is bidding on this car??

That's not a shill. That's a tire kicker. Shill implies fraud and fake.

This has been a dream car and spec of mine for years, I sincerely hope more enthusiasts get to ****** these great cars up in the future. Time to go drive it and make some memories, as these cars were intended for.

Speaking with several friends who have made the leap from the 991.2 to the 992 they all say the same thing. Too much tech, too darty, and too harsh for the road. Somehow it seems Porsche made their 992 GT3 the equivalent of a .2 RS in many ways when it comes to ride quality. Certainly this is all second hand regurgitation from others, but it does make you wonder what the sentiment will be in years to come.
I agree with your friends. I bought a 992 and kept my 991.2 also. Ended up selling the 992 for the reasons you stated plus a few more. Very happy I kept the 991.2. No regrets looking back.

Thank you both, I was very fortunate to locate the car private party. The previous owner was a friend of a friend and willing to cut me a deal to move on to something else at the time. Right place, right time, I suppose.

What's really cool is I was able to find the original delivery thread on the forum as well.

i posted this car here 2 weeks ago or so when it was being sold on ebay by the owner for $195k obo in San Francisco. GP went and bought it a few days ago and I’m sure they paid in the $180s for it. The guy selling it seemed motivated.

i’m not into the touring thing so not my cup of tea but I’m surprised no one here snagged it.

22,000 miles on a $165,000 sticker isn't a $200,000 car to me and probably a lot of other people as well. It might be the cheapest touring at the moment, but that just means they're all too high.

And for some, missing 2 seasons of tracking has a value as well (opportunity cost). How many more track seasons does one have left? If you’re young, maybe a lot. If you’re older, maybe not so many. Some may decide to pay a higher price to get a car now and have more time enjoying the car, while some will not. But, that is yet another factor in what drives the car market.

Speaking of shill bids on BAT...

Check out this auction: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...911-gt3-rs-12/

Some dude: https://bringatrailer.com/member/jordys/. (Clear dealer)

competed with this dude: https://bringatrailer.com/member/slickshift21/ (also a dealer)

who said this after auction close as the 2nd highest bid:
slickshift21a) these cars are totally over-rated and b) i love watching someone pay up….best of luck @jordys

and they bought from this guy: https://bringatrailer.com/member/gnmikhail/ (also also a dealer)

So we have dealers fighting dealers paying dealers to pay 53k over sticker for a NON weissach iron rotor (I had same spec) white GT3rs....This sure as hell is not worth 258k lol

If this isn't a fake auction I don't know what is...

Someone prove to me how this is a real arm length transaction? I get someone dumb and drunk on a saturday/sunday, but these are clearly dealers in terrible environment for cars (or bid pumpers, same deal, they work with the sellers)

I don't believe that was a fake auction. To each his own opinion.
