I don't think so.
There have been a total of only 286 Spyders (918) sold in the US in '14, '15 and '16. One, so far, in 2017.
My guess is Porsche will send more than 287 GT2 RS cars to the US. A lot more.
All this meaning, in the unlikely event every 918 owner in the US bought a GT2 RS car, there would still be quite a few left over for the peons.

Look, right now the 918 guys are blowing their collective wads getting into the GT3's because they want to get their hands on whats hot - the 6 speed.
They're only going to throw so much money at Porsche and it'll end with their GT3 buy. Along comes the GT2 and lot's of 918 people sit on the sidelines, out of money. Result? Plenty of GT2'S around at sticker.
Hang in there!

You are probably correct or incorrect which is where the problem lies.

Not holding my breath. Another 918 special so to speak. This has reached laughable proportions especially when guys here get all lathered up over a car they will never be offered or own.
My attitude is "if I can't have one, I have 0 interest in discussing it, reading about it or thinking about it". It means 0 to me.

On my dealers list pretty high up the list. If I get an allocation I get it. If I don't I don't. Really don't care that much anymore.

I was 2nd on the GT2RS list at my dealer after their 1st 918 guy. Thought I was looking good until last night when dealer told me their 2nd 918 guy now decided he wants the car. Bumped to 3rd spot now and my dealer is not sure they will even get 2 order spots! This obviously would have been so much easier if I just tossed $900k at a 918 first. Silly me

I had posters of 959 on my wall as a youth.. couldn't afford or obtain one at that age, but I could dream about it..
.... perhaps if some of you got your head unstuck you could see some light... or is age making ya'll sour?.. lol

Instead, less than a year after the last 918 is sold, out comes the new champion of everything, the GT2. In every metric, equal to or better than the 918. But, at 1/3 the cost, with two less cylinders and doesn't require an extension chord.
That's gotta hurt.

I fully agree with you. I do not know among the several people I know who are 918 Spyder owners who are hurting for money. Technically it is a drop in their bucket of "$Benjamins$. They practically buy whatever car they want outside of the PORSCHE brand.
In fact they are in an enviable position because of their VIP status, they get one car on ALL and or ANY model of their choosing (first dibs), That includes the highly desirable PORSCHE GT cars at MSRP. To me that is a bargain deal now that PORSCHE is at the same level as that of FERRARI, or may have even surpassed it.

Both of these are wishful and not accurate statements, insofar as the 918 guys I know. They are buying all the cars Porsche offers them as well as other brands at the same time, and their wads are far from blown.. A a few are on their second jet or yacht.. or 4th home, and not even close to blown wad. Not to mention they are happy for the differentiated offering of multiple Porsche sports cars, without any sense of threat to the 918's performance, in fact one has just purchased his second 918 because it had a cool PTS color. extra zeroes on the end of the wad...
